I recently visited Hotshots Sports Bar & Grill in Wentzville, MO, for the first time, genuinely excited to see what is promoted as the largest Hotshots location.
The facility itself is impressive—spacious, filled with interesting sports memorabilia, multiple pool tables and dart boards, and plenty of TVs for sports fans.
Unfortunately, my experience as a first-time customer was extremely disappointing. As someone who enjoys sharing unique places on social media, I took some photos and videos of the venue’s decor, games, and setup.
I was soon confronted by a patron claiming to be a regular, questioning why I was documenting the atmosphere.
Shortly after, I was informed—incorrectly—that I was filming staff members, though my focus was entirely on the building, its features, and the entertainment areas.
At no point did I photograph or record employees.
What troubled me most was how the staff handled the situation.
Multiple employees approached me about the filming, and one of them (who appeared to be off duty and sitting at the bar with a drink) confronted me directly.
This made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome as a guest simply enjoying what the business advertises.
I strongly believe that social media and photography are commonplace in today’s hospitality industry and should be expected, especially when focusing solely on the venue and not individuals.
On a positive note, I want to mention that my server, Sarah, provided excellent service and was the highlight of my visit.
She was prompt, courteous, and attentive, and I made sure to show my appreciation with a generous tip.
Sadly, the poor customer service and lack of professionalism from other staff and patrons left a very negative impression. I hope management will consider updating employee training on customer interactions, especially regarding guests who are simply enthusiastic to share their experience.
Overall, the atmosphere and amenities are impressive, but the treatment I received was unacceptable and overshadowed what could have been a great visit.

Read moreMy husband, 3 kids and I entered the Wentzville HotShots around 8:35pm. We walked in, sat down and were served by a very pleasant young lady. My family and I are traveling and came to grab dinner before heading to our hotel. As we entered the building and walked by multiple employees, we saw no signage, nor were we notified by any of the staff regarding a policy that prohibited children after a certain time. After placing our order, the kids noticed darts and asked our server to play darts. She was super nice and grabbed the darts. They played for about 10-15 minutes before our food arrived. The restaurant had maybe a dozen people spread out and was definitely not busy. We were seated nowhere near anyone…. Except maybe the servers boyfriends. It appeared some off duty servers were there to throw darts and maybe that’s who we “bothered” as we noticed them pointing at us. It must have offended this group enough to cause the male bartender or maybe manager to approach my husband with a, “Hey! No kids allowed after 8pm!” Our food was arriving at this same time. We tried our food to make sure it was what we ordered and then asked our server for to go boxes. At this point, we were no longer comfortably able to enjoy our meal in the restaurant. We received boxes. Our server apologized profusely and was clearly embarrassed. Our service was excellent and the food was delicious!!! Our server was friendly and attentive and we have zero complaints regarding our food. After boxing up- we paid our bill of $130 and left immediately. We were gone within minutes of being notified of HotShots’ “no kids after 8pm policy”. We are currently eating our room temp food in our nearby hotel room. I would recommend HotShots put a hostess/host stand in place or have other employees work closer to the front doors after 8pm and inform customers with children of their policy to prevent the same embarrassment we endured from their staff member...
Read moreThis was my first time here. In town from Fort Worth, tx for work. I googled entertainment and this place showed up. Looked decent. When I walked in I was surprised to see slot machines in the back. Gambling is illegal in Texas so im not used to that lol. But the atmosphere was great. Pool, darts and tv's all over the place. Just felt comfortable, ya know? Lacy was my server and she was absolutely amazing. She was upfront in telling me the kitchen was a little short, but I got everything I wanted in what I considered to be a reasonable amount of time. So kudos to the guys in the back for hustling. I had 3 of the beers of the month. I dont remember what it was called but it was really good. I had the mini tacos with your queso and that was great. Definitely a good way to start dinner. My main course was the MVP build your own smash burger. I asked what the woody Bread was and I shit you not its a freaking grilled cheese sandwich as the top bun. I got it with sautéed mushrooms, peppers and onions. Probably the best burger I've ever had. My experience tonight? 100% on point. Thank you for making this texan feel at home here...
