The cashier's lack of (dare I say), customer service skills portended the poor customer experience that followed. And having to prepay for a meal does not inspire confidence in the food experience that is to follow... The review: The raspberry tea was OK. That is important because my mouth was parched by consumption of huge quantities of salt, (and most probably), huge quantities of MSG. There was a 1.5 quart rice cooker half full of jasmine rice, sitting at the end of one of the long buffet service counters. It was ignored by most patrons, as evidenced by it's tiny size & content, especially in the context of a "Chinese" buffet. I had about 3/4 cup of plain, white, jasmine-rice. It was edible, & probably the freshest thing I ate while there. But, unfortunately, I'd say that Lin's offered the worst food today, let alone the worst "Chinese" food buffet experience in my entire, life experience & memory. I've eaten in San Francisco, D.C., London, NYC, & Philly Chinese restaurants. I wasn't expecting Lin's to compete with them, of course. There is a very decent Chinese buffet called Great China, a mile away from Lin's, in Weslaco. And I'll not stray from Great China again! I hadn't eaten at Lin's before today, but for one time, when it 1st opened over a decade ago. Today most of the food tasted "off". I had to spit out the salt shrimp, the pulpito (baby octopus), the crayfish, & the hot & sour soup. The only flavors were of salt & refrigerator/freezer storage staleness. No garlic, ginger, or other added spices. Hot and sour soup was warm and very salty. None of the sour, hot, or the distinct flavors of lily flowers, bamboo shoots, and cloud ear. I couldn't find the dumplings. There was a variety of beef and chicken dishes & non-Asian stuff which I wouldn't care to sample. The food I sampled contained no traditional sauces. The string beans tasted of something that had been re-heated, repeatedly. No garlic, ginger, chili, or sesame oil detected. Beans were extremely salty, tough, and dry. Some were mushy. I love traditional crisp Chinese string beans that are prepared properly. A simple dish. I could have eaten the fresh fruit offered, but I was nauseated by the time I'd normally have a bit of dessert or fruit. The sushi on the buffet table was only dry crab stick and hard, dry cucumber; or dry crab stick, dry cucumber, and dry cream cheese. No avocado, no pickled veggies. I won't go back. Lin's lunch buffet truly was a waste of my $16. I was hungry at the start; now I'm nauseated, disappointed, & belching. There are lots of buffet flies in the RGV to keep this place in business. But I appreciate quality food. The plenty and variety of tasty foods are the added bonuses offered in a buffet. But when the food is neither tasty nor fresh, the plenty & variety...
Read moreI have been coming To Lina a numerous amount of times for MANY years with my family, friends or just myself. Today I had the worse experience ever. My cousins and I decide to go have lunch at Lin’s. As we got to the register the cashier (Dalia Salse) asked if it was all together and I said no go ahead and charge theirs separately and I’ll pay my own. My cousin then interrupted and said just put all buffets together I’ll pay for them. The cashier then asked so 3 buffet and 3 drinks, and my cousin confirmed yes. My other cousin and I then interrupted and said that we wanted water instead. The cashier had already input three buffets and three drinks and got very upset just because we said we wanted water. She then starts being rude and very unprofessional rolling her eyes. After that loudly and sarcastically she yelled at the host to make sure we got water and mumbled something else, but with an attitude. I then Asked her are you the manager, and she said yes. I then told her she was very unprofessional and that she did not have to be rude for no reason, all we asked was to change our drinks for water. She then sarcastically said I’ll take that into consideration and kept being very rude. As a manager she does not belong there. I told my friend about my experience and told me she had a similar experience with her. Ask your team, she belittles and is a bully to workers there too. She needs to be removed from there before loosing more customers of many...

He finally decided to come and cook and didn't wash his hands. So I decided to ask a manager to ask him to wash his hands. Wel he still didnt wash them finished cooking my wives food and decised to comfromt me about it!! While the manager at the time just hid in the corner. He asked me why did Ihave to tell his manager? That his hands are clean and decided to show them to me. We began to argue and I asked him what is so hard about washing his hands. He said for what if he doesnt touch the food. I said but you touch the plate. Then he calls me crazy and stands in my face like he was going to get physical with me .. I decided to stand up to let the people know he cooks rlthe food without washing his hands and he laughed. He refused to gve me his name. I asked the manager and she also didnt give me a full name or her full name. I will make sure her manager knows this and the district manager heres this review!!!
