Fat's — Restaurant in West Allis

The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was perfect for a burger restaurant. The door was held for us as we walked in and we were seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly and we had plenty of time to make our selections. The menu was rather appetizing and the flavor creations were intriguing to say the least. We placed our order and within ten minutes it was sitting in front of us with a lot of promise. Cutting into the burger, it was cooked perfectly as requested. That's where the goodness started to fade. Upon picking up the burger, it was sitting in a pool of grease which seems to be where the namesake comes from. Regardless, we were hoping for the best and unfortunately it didn't deliver. The promising flavor was drown out by the soppy, soggy mess that was delivered instead. The weight of the burger fell through the bun and onto the plate in a heap as the brioche couldn't hold up to the abundance of fat it was soaking up. Expecting the amazing flavor combination of bourbon onions, mushroom, and swiss cheese was spoiled as I needed a fork to pick it up off the plate. Each burger at my table suffered a similar fate and honestly I was dumbfounded. A burger cooked to perfection with a promising flavor profile reduced to probably a pile of rubble that had me eyeing for the closest AED device was sincerely unexpected. This restaurant has a lot of promise as the staff, atmosphere, and menu are spot on. The lean to fat ratio of their signature patty though just isn't it. Tried them after work as a way to end a challenging week. Our server, Lana, was exceptional. I would come back to this restaurant just to drink water and be served by her. Unfortunately, that is where the greatness ends. To be fair, the restaurant is decorated appropriately and it was clean. The food was absolutely horrible and I was so disappointed. Both my friend and my drinks were mediocre (at best). Drink prices were high for the quality of liquor and size of drink. Worst fried pickles I've ever had. Sent them back to the kitchen as they were so salty that they couldn't be eaten. Our server was kind during the process but really had her hands tied. Both my burger and my friends wrap were basic. The veggies served as a side were frozen and insulting. Less than 10% of what we ordered was consumed and it truly was a waste of money. I hope they work out the kinks and encourage the cooks to taste good from time to time before serving it. I did offer feedback to my server who stated that she would share it with the manager and the owner (who arrived while we were there). My wife and I visited or the first time Saturday November 1, 2025. There was live music which was nice, and the overall atmosphere was good. The food once we received it was excellent (a couple burgers and fries).

The reason for the low service review was the time it took to be noticed at a table and then get served. It took 30 minutes for someone to come and take our order. Soda’s took another 15 min. food when it arrived was hot and fresh (nice). Came time to pay the bill and I was going to pay with cash. Waitress took my $40 ($30 bill) asking if I needed change; I said yes. She brought back my $40 broken down to $20, $10, $5, and five $1’s. Then she stood while I determined what I would leave for a tip. We tipped well because honestly I felt sorry for this young girl (Navaeh). Watching her in action seemed to indicate not much training. She has great potential if someone spends some time with her. She needs to learn efficiency of managing tables with different parts of the process.
