Not sure if the owner lady’s having a bad day or what, but I stopped in today to grab some bakery goods and she was VERY unfriendly and rude. I said hi to her with a smile and her reply was just a flat cold “hi, what you want?” There was no smile or any welcoming gesture from the lady. Instead she seemed extremely annoyed that I was taking a minute to look through all her bakery selections and kept asking “what you want?” I could understand if it was busy, but I was the only customer in her store, so I have no idea why I’m being rushed or why she seemed so irritated with me. She almost acted like I walked into her shop demanding for free bakery goods. Or as if I was being a bother by buying bakery goods from her. It really makes no sense and unless it happens to you, you may not think it’s a big deal, but the feeling of being mistreated for having done nothing at all is not a pleasing one. I’m a regular and have been giving them my business since they first opened and although she wasn’t all smiles all the time, she wasn’t rude like this. The last few times I stopped in, it was a man working the front, so I haven’t seen or dealt with the lady for quite some time. However, today’s rude encounter with her, and being that she’s the owner, will stop me from going to this place. No matter how good her bakeries may be, if she has rude customer service, I’d rather not give her my business.
Now that I’m reading other reviews, the lady owner has been known to be rude to other customers as well. This is sad as my husband and I really liked this place. Unless we hear that they improve on their customer service in the future, we won’t be going back. We will no longer recommend this place to families or friends and will be sharing about my bad experience with everyone I know. You’ve lost out on a very loyal customer, Lucky’s Bakery! Rude customer service...
Read moreThis is a pretty awful and sleazy place. My family and I have patroned this establishment a handful of times, and each time was, memorably, a very unpleasant experience.
The food is SOMETIMES good, so we've returned in the past because we wanted to give Lucky Bakery & BBQ the benefit of the doubt. But today is the last time.
The main woman who (I assume) runs the establishment is outstandingly mean and rude. And unfortunately racist. Racist in the sense that she DOES prioritize Chinese customers over others. This specifically happened to us today. My dad and I were in line, along with others, waiting patiently. She dealt with everyone coldly. A Chinese customer entered, literally jumped everyone else in line to place her order and got effusively friendly and special treatment. Everyone noticed this.
The main woman is a cheat. She's cheated us almost every single time we've come in. She'll either run the bill up more than the value we purchased for, or the she'll short-change us on food. For example, we'd pay for 3 lbs of roast pork, go home, weigh our purchase, and it would be only 2.5 lbs. Or we'd buy 6 pastries and she would charge us for 10.
The receipt is deliberately not itemized so she/the establishment can escape accountability.
If you go in, bring your own scale, count your items, and check if she/they has overcharged you. When I've asked other friends/family if they've had similar experience, they've...
Read moreWhere do I even begin?!? My partner and I made the drive from Madison first thing in the morning on a Saturday - he didn't know where we were going, but I had called ahead the day before I place an order. We arrived right when Lucky Baker & BBQ opened, and there were others waiting outside and in the lobby (a great sign!). My partner was thrilled that the surprise was Chinese BBQ, and we picked up the order of roast ruck and pork with crispy skin. While we were there, we chose some bakery items as well (an egg tart and a red bean cake). Then, we started to drive home, snagging a piece of pork to nibble on the drive back to Madison. HOLY COW. I pulled the car over SO FAST - this pork deserves all of your attention! You cannot do it justice while driving, you need to sit and savor it! We literally bought a drink at a Panera so we could sit outside and eat this pork. I will dream about this pork every night until we can make another trip to West Allis. My life as been changed by this pork. The duck and the bakery items were also flawlessly outstanding, but I truly cannot get over the pork. We ate the entire pound of it that Saturday, and will be telling...
