Anybody who knows me, knows I am a Black Panther to my core! True ride or die for my people but this place unfortunately is just not it. For starters, when we walked in we were told that they werenāt sure if they had room for our party of 6. But after checking the dining room, we were told that they had room for 6 but that it was a $50 deposit. We questioned that further because we were unclear on what the $50 was for? Are we being charged to sit? Does the money go towards the bill? Do we get the deposit back? None of this was explained when asked to pay $50. The hostess finally explained that it was a āprivateā area and that we could do whatever we wanted with it. Almost like a section at the club. Anywho, we decided to pay the $50 for the āsecludedā area since it was a special occasion. Once we got to the area, it was dirty. Food/crumbs on the chairs/benches, tables and floor. Which shouldāve been wiped down and swept prior to anyone sitting in this $50 section at a restaurant. So weāve now been sitting for about 5 minutes, and next thing you know, customers are walking through the āprivateā section through a door located in the section. We then questioned the hostess and waitress, Alicia, on how we are in a āprivateā section when people can just walk through willy nilly? The hostess then said that ācustomers arenāt supposed to do that but, but they do it all the time.ā Insanity. That is not the concern of the customer. If we paid $50 for a secluded area then we expect the area to be secluded. So if that means that the establishment needs to lock that entrance, block it off, put a sign up or whatever the case may be then it should be done, ESPECIALLY when that area has been paid for and being used. After that whole debacle, we are now ordering our food. So we all tell the waitress what we want, she places the order and walks off; or so we think. About 5 or so minutes later, she comes back and states that theyāre out of salmon which 3 out 6 people had ordered. I canāt even explain how unprofessional that is. I could understand if salmon was a special or seasonal item on their menu, but that was not the case. Salmon was a main character on the menu. Itās in many of their options such as salmon & grits, salmon bites, salmon croquettes therefore running out of salmon should absolutely never be the case. Not to mention we got there at about 1-1:30 and this place is open from 9a-3:30p. Itās just not a good look. However, the 3 people in our party decided to order something else which we told to waitress Alicia. She then āput in our updated orderā and walked off. 2-3 minutes pass, Alicia comes back and tells us that our entire order has been deleted. I canāt make this up people. I asked her how that happened and she states that the tablet died. Why was the tablet not charged? Not sure. Alicia had our order for at least 5-10 minutes at this point so why was the order not submitted already? Not sure. Why were we not offered some type of incentive due to the crappy experience we endured? Not sure. We ended up just getting our deposit back and leaving with no drinks, no food or anything but ice water. A 6 top walked out the door unserved and unhappy. Iāve worked in customer service and been a waitress before so Iām pretty knowledgeable on how things are supposed to go. I try black owned establishments all the time and many of them lack the same things āprofessionalism and efficiency. Very disappointed in my experience here and I hope they use this review as an aid to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was celebrating my 36 birthday, I made a reservation online for 25 people and it was a 50 dollar non refundable fee. I reached out online to Inquire more information and to make sure that they would b3 able to accommodate my party, because online it only let you book a party of 8. After talking to the owner Bria, I booked the party . I reached back out again to the establishment to let them know that although it says 8 people there will be 25 people. The hostess or whoever answered the phone said they could not accommodate my party size, I explained to her that I talked to someone already and they said you can. She then responded that I reach back out to the person I emailed to make sure , so I did. Bria again confirmed that it was alright. The day of my brunch, some of my guest arrived at 3:43 , they called me as I was pulling up to say that the staff told them we had to hurry . I brushed it off because I was in the parking lot parking...as they took us to our seats to be seated we were set up towards the back area where 8 people were set to sit at the table and some guest were supposed to sit at a bar top and then other guest were to sit in the dinning area. When my family and I mentioned how the seating was an issue, one of the waitress tried to talk over us. We explained we are not small, and we have some family members who are coming that is over 55 , the seating wouldn't be comfortable or ideal. Why would we go out to eat together and cant sit together. We spent at least 30 minutes trying to get the seating together although the dinning area was not busy and they could of set us up in the main area in the first place. They even called Bria to see of we could just go to the rooftop where we all could sit together. I paid a 50 dollar deposit for what again?? Because our seats were not read some of the waitstaff was very rude . My daughter asked for tea when she bought the ice tea out my daughter stated that she wanted hot tea, the waitress responds was you didn't say that, she is a child but as a former server its your job to ask what kind of tea would you like? They forgot to take some people orders in the party so when my guest tried to inform them she seemed to have an attitude.. I wanted to wait some to order some food togo when my cousin told me that the lady said we had to hurry because the kitchen was going to close at 5:15 ..which would explain why we felt rushed the whole time there.. then at the end when the bills came. I was told by Bria that there could only be 2 bills which is fine , but not that it could only be 2 forms of payment. As I said before as a former bartender and server I just never heard of that. I was charged a 25 dollar cake fee for bringing the cake inside, so when my sister ask the waitress what does it include? Do she cut the cut the cake for us or anything, once again the lady was rude oh no I'm not going to cut her cake she can cut her own cake.. sometimes it's how you say things , very unprofessional. They didn't want to separate the checks , they only wanted to take 2 forms of payment and had the nerves to rush us!!! We spent over 1300 in that establishment and that had to be the worst service I have ever seen. I also reached back out bria to discuss my issues she called , but I was unavailable at the time. I tried to contact her back these last few days and no response, I even left a voice mail... the food was good , but EVERYTHING ELSE...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpon walking in, I already knew the dining experience was going to be interesting considering you were met with DIY decor that youād see at a hair shop or lash tech studio. The host was nowhere to be found and my friend and I stood for 10 minutes before just entering inside waving someone down so that we could finally be seated.
Ambiance and decor was just atrocious. It gave they put lipstick on a pig. Itās clear the cut interior designer out of the budget because the layout of how the restaurant was set up made the space so awkward. It didnāt flow. The amazon furniture was obvious. It gave they were cosplaying upscale. Like costume jewelery. Trying to be opulent but itās clearly fake.
Furthermore on every table there was a laminated āno campingā sign taped down with packaging tape stating they allow only an hour and a half per dining experience which is fine as itās a restaurant and they want to turn tables to make their money, but itās tacky, classless, and money grabbing to have it pasted on their shein faux marble 2 top tables for guests to see. The servers should be experienced enough to push a table along for shorter dining times, without that even being communicated to the guest.
Service was horrible, she didnāt greet us, make us feel welcome, walk us through any of the menu, highlight a specials, no table side upselling happened. She never checked on our table. She couldnāt answer any questions about the menu. I asked her some questions and she rolled her eyes and huffed and walked away. Because it was so slow in there and we were one of two tables dining at the time, you could hear all the conversations. She went over to the other server and started bad mouthing us saying how why would I even ask her any questions. It was just overall rude. She also never got our drink order and we had to yell across the restaurant what we wanted to drink and then our drinks came after our meal so we sat with nothing but tap water on the table until our food came.
The food came cold and seasoned poorly. I ordered biscuits and gravy and my friend got a fish and shrimp grits. The food came COLD! The biscuits were burnt and the fish tasted like rubber. The food was so nasty and over priced. Paying $30 for shrimp and grits at an amazon diy joint is crazy. I could go to an actual fine dining brunch restaurant and spent the same or less. It was horrible. They added 20% gratuity automatically which was not deserved.
Upon leaving the establishment both my friend and I ended up with the worst food poisoning weāve ever experienced. Vomiting, diarrhea, chills. We were bed ridden for more than half the day in serious pain from the wretched food poisoning their food gave us.
I will not be back. Just because your family friends said your cooking is good doesnāt mean you should open a restaurant!!!! You are making people sick and scamming people out of the most of their money to keep the lights on in that establishment!
FURTHERMORE FOR ONE SLICE OF BREAD TOASTED ITS $4!!!! $4 for one slice of bread!!!!! $10 for lemonade!!!! Like a whole loaf of bread is $4 and theyāre selling one slice for the cost of a whole loaf and that is INSANITY! Itās not like itās a home cooked sourdough either but a slice of white bread. Be so for real!
Never will be dining...
