Interesting experience at Winger’s today. I’ve never been treated so poorly at a food establishment. To give a little history, this restaurant has repeatedly messed up my orders. It gets to the point where I just assume there will be something wrong and check it thoroughly every time. 8 out of the past 10 times, there has been something wrong with my order. I would’ve stopped coming long ago, but the wings aren’t bad. The most recent time, I had complained to the manager. Upon my request, she gave me the email for Mr. Smoot (the fairly new owner), so I could go over my frustrations with him. I felt it would be more kind to email him, than post a public review of my repeatedly bad experiences. After waiting a day, I just decided not to email him. I wish I had now. When I arrived at the restaurant today to pick up my to go order, the assistant manager was arguing with a hispanic couple that spoke broken English. The couple had taken an order home and brought it back because there was a problem with their order. The assistant manager was engaging in a vocal disagreement with them loud enough that I could hear it all from the other side of the reception area. It was very uncomfortable. The assistant manager said they had to pay twice if they wanted their order remade. They were going back-and-forth arguing. The manager basically inferred that they were lying, and that the person who took the order couldn’t have made a mistake and that the customer was lying about the circumstances. She again said if they wanted the correct order made, they had to pay twice for it. She said their owner said they’ve been taken advantage of by too many customers lately, and remaking too many orders, so they weren’t going to do it anymore. I felt like the Hispanic couple was being taken advantage of because they didn’t speak clear English, so I asked them if I could intervene, and say something on their behalf. They said yes. I told the assistant manager they had also messed up many of my orders in the past, and at least they would always fix it without arguing, why were they now arguing to fix this couple’s order? I couldn’t help but think her treatment of them was racially motivated, and I’m usually very slow to accuse of that. But this just felt pretty obvious. I said something to that effect, and the assistant manager said they make plenty of money there and they didn’t need our money, and “there’s the door”. I thought that was a pretty strange thing to say to a customer who was just asking for their order to be corrected. Any half decent restaurant I’ve ever been to would just apologize for the mistake and correct the order when you tell them it’s wrong. It seems the new owner has a different strategy he’s choosing to go with. I said, “Wow that’s pretty bold, would you be willing to say that on camera?”, and I pulled up my phone. She started swearing at me and told me I did not have her permission to video her, so I put my phone back away. Then I asked if we could speak to the actual manager, not just the assistant manager. So a young woman that appeared to be in her early 20s came up and said she was the actual manager. I explained to her what the assistant manager had said to us, and she repeated the same surprising statement. She said, “Yes, she’s right. Tonight we have parties spending $100, $250, $500, and one party even spent $1500, so we don’t need your money, and you’re welcome to leave.” I said, “You’re pretty brazen to say such a thing to a customer”. She replied, “Well it’s true, we don’t need your business.” I said, “Thank you very much, you can keep the food I ordered and I will never be back.” I’m posting this now, because if they are going to treat any customer this poorly just because they complain about a messed up order, (or stood up for someone else who was trying to do so, but didn’t have the language skills to do it effectively), I felt other people should know about it. It’s true, the wings aren’t bad there, but you should be prepared to be treated like trash if you complain about...
Read moreSo let me start off by saying the only reason this isn’t a one star is because I believe this place can improve. This is the second time I’ve been here and this is no longer opening week so I don’t want to hear an excuse of that being the issue. The waiters here are rude and don’t pay attention to the customers ( with the exception of Dylan ) who is amazing. The first time I came we were told we could wait in the car and we would get a call or a text when our table was ready. It was supposed to be a 40 minute wait and it ended up being an 1 hour and 20 minutes, we then chose to come inside to find out what was going on and discovered our name had been crossed out and 11 other parties after us had been seated. The second time we came we tried to call and get our name on the wait list. When we called we were greeting with a cold “hi” not even saying it was wingers. When we asked if there was a wait we got a “yes” we had to specifically ask how long the wait was and then she wouldn’t put our names on the list we weren’t asking for a reservation just to simply be on the list. Also there’s no point in trying to order online because it NEVER EVER works. It will say to call the store but when you call the store they just say they can’t take orders over the phone and you have to order online. It’s just a game of cat and mouse. The food hasn’t been up to par with other wingers either. Now to my last point, I wouldn’t normally bring this up but there was a review from the first week bringing up this same issue and the owner responded and said they take the issue very seriously. It’s now the third week and the issue hasn’t been resolved. We are in a pandemic. Your company requires masks and social distancing, yet half the employees don’t where masks especially the bar tenders. Our waiter tonight had a bandana as a mask and the end of his bandana touched food he was bringing out. Also they sit every table no table in between. They sit people side to side and back to back. No social distancing. If you don’t take the issue seriously just own up to it instead of saying you do care... DONT LIE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS. Also be prepared the orders are gonna come out wrong and if you ever need anything you will just have to ask a random waiter for it as yours won’t...
Read moreFirst off, loved my server. Great guy. Food isn't expensive (I'm an east coast guy tho so take that into account, restaurants on the east coast usually more $$) but isn't cheap. Very reasonable cost in my opinion. First opinion walking in was a little negative. They don't have a hostess, so you walk in a little confused. Took 4 mins to get a table as the servers are dealing with their current tables while also trying to look out for new people walking in which is understandable. I would suggest maybe a light system in the back that customers can't see when the door opens or a noise if you don't want a hostess (which is understandable). That was my only negative. The food is standard chain food, not spectacular, not horrible by any means but a good filling meal where I'd eat my leftovers if there's any. Keep in mind you're not going to a Michelin star restaurant, so your expectations should be reasonable. Asked for servers suggestions on beer selection, he made a great choice. The server was a very friendly nice guy, not a complaint in the world. Reason for 4 stars is because improvements can be made although I think some other reviews were a little overzealous and weren't keeping their expectations within reason. Remember people, mistakes happen it's how they correct them. I didn't have any issues with my order at all, just saying I 100% believe if there was all I had to do was say something and they would take care of it. Will be going back, not sure how often but definitely...
