Told to ‘cover up’ in 2025. Seriously?

I went to Miami Valley last night with my friends for Halloween, all of us in costume and excited for a fun night out. After we had already been let in, ordered drinks, and sat down, a male security guard came up to me and told me my outfit was “indecent” and that I needed to cover up.

I was dressed as Shego, wearing a full unitard with black tights — nothing inappropriate for a Halloween bar night. Yet I was singled out, made to feel uncomfortable about my own body, and embarrassed in front of others.

This kind of sexist double standard is disgusting. It’s 2025 — women shouldn’t still be policed or shamed for what we wear, especially in an adult bar on Halloween. If the outfit was supposedly an issue, the staff should have said so at the door before taking our money, not after serving drinks.

Instead of enforcing some sexist “modesty” rule, maybe address the behavior of the men who make women feel unsafe instead of punishing the women themselves.

Completely gross and disappointing experience. I will never come back, and I’d encourage other women to think twice before going somewhere that still treats female...

Mamma mia, I gotta tell you about dis Miami Valley Sports Bar! Dis place, it’s-a fantastico, a real treasure in West Carrollton! I walk in, and—boom!—15,000 square feet of pure gioia, happiness! Dey got everyt’ing: 18 pool tables, darts, ping pong, shuffle-a-board, cornhole inside, and even arcade games like Golden Tee and basketball. You wanna play, you wanna watch-a da sports, dis place, it’s-a perfetto for everybody!

Da atmosphere? Oh, so alive, but still relaxin’, you know? TVs everywhere showin’ all da big games—my heart, it beats for dat! And da bar—mamma mia, 32 taps with birra, craft and domestic, so good I kiss-a my fingers! Cocktails too, strong like-a my nonno’s grappa. Outside, dey got a patio—bellissimo for drinkin’ when da sun shines. Da staff, so nice, so friendly, like-a family, makin’ me feel right at home.

In summer, dey bring food-a trucks—fresca, local, delicioso! Pair dat with a cold birra, and I’m-a in paradise. Prices? No problem, easy on da wallet. Dis Miami Valley Sports Bar, it’s-a my new favorito in Dayton area. Cinque stelle—five...

This is more of a complaint to one of the bartenders who treated me with such disrespect last night. When you work at an establishment and leave after your shift, you are still a representation of that establishment inside and out. Especially when you're a regular, you see the staff often. Well, last night, Jess whose a bartender was at the bar next door and I saw her after leaving this place. She was sitting at the bar with another former employee and me being a regular, I wanted to say hello, but when I approach and made a joke about getting jello shots thinking they would turn and look at me to see who it was, they cursed me out in a manner that was uncalled for.

I am a well paying customer, I have respect for business, and employees represent the family. It's what brings people back to a place and spend money. There's no excuse for such vulgar behavior, and hurting a regulars feelings because of whatever biases exist in someones mind. Now I'm hesitant to come in after being attacked the way I did from that bartender. Bad apples...
