Sooo, for lunch today, I decided to try a new place on Byers Road. Considering restaurants at this location don’t last very long, I figured I would get it in while I can. Its Big A BBQ Bar and Grill. As mentioned, its on Byers Road in Miamisburg, where Dark Tavern and Oink a Doodle Moo used to be. The Henny wings jumped out at me because there is a place in NYC called Dallas BBQ that serves Henny wings. I wanted to compare. There was actually no comparison. The henny wings at Dallas BBQ were by far better. However, the wings at Big A were good. It tasted like more of a bbq sauce w/ a spicy kick. The wings themselves were fried nice and crispy. For the sides I got the mac and cheese and collard greens. While I was waiting for my meal, I was chatting up a guy who passed on getting something else, b/c they were out of the turkey ribs. He told me that Big A serves the best turkey ribs. He used to get the wings and they were good, but when he tried the ribs, he was sold on that. I asked him about the sides. He said he usually doesn’t get the sides b/c he tried the collard greens and they were salty and the beans were bland. Seeing as I had already ordered and wanted to get a veggie in for the month of February, I stuck w/ what I had chosen. I have to say, the guy was right. The greens were very salty. The mac and cheese was cheesy and seemed to have a good flavor as well. However, I couldn’t really tell if I was getting residual salt from the greens I had just tried, or if the mac and cheese was also a little salty. Big A has all you can eat fish on Friday and usually has a band on the weekend. They used to be located in Huber and are now in Miamisburg, so hopefully they will do well in their new location. Bottom line, I did enjoy the wings and would really like to go back and try the turkey ribs. I have never had turkey ribs, so I am intrigued. Side note, they also have Jack Daniel’s wings, I’m...
Read moreWhat a great place to come visit and eat. Then from the area had a place here since 1996. Always love this structure. The windows in the upper floor. Don't quite know if that's open or not. I was here the other night on a weeknight, I had chosen to park across the street in my big rig. Since the new ownership I was here about a year and a half ago or two years. The food was good then and tonight they had a barbecue special sandwich pulled pork it was really good.
The owner was there maybe with his son of his kin talk to him a little bit. I did recognize him from being in there before. He's trying to do good things they had a music festival. I guess around Labor Day this summer closed off the parking lots I was told through a friend that's knows him , really happy to know this about this place. Unfortunately I travel a lot now and have a place in Florida and an eastern Ohio. I still have office and Shop here so I will be back you guys thanks again.
I will say, oddly, the young lady behind the bar just observing she was attentive of me I must say, but when I went to have a conversation with her or ask her where she's from she kept the same look she had really the whole time I was there. What I mean is in my opinion, sometimes people come to maybe even have a conversation. She said she was from Huber Heights. I just asked her about the football coach I used to play ball with if he still there it really seem like she didn't want me asking her questions lol anyhow, good luck you guys, there's no hidden agendas when people ask you these types of questions just having a drink and part of a bartender job lol is to be a psychologist lol no serious watch the movie is as good as it gets the bartender scene YouTube take care of y'all thank you for being there. I will be back as Arnold...
Read moreThis restaurant sounded like a place my husband and I wanted to try for some good BBQ and soul food, When we pulled into their parking lot there were no cars on a Friday at 4:30p. We thought they were closed. When we walked in there were 2 waitresses sitting at the bar. Neither one looked at us and continued talking. And no one at the door to greet you. Someone from the back calls out to sit anywhere we wanted. We placed our order and it took a long time considering we were the only ones there. The brisket was like shoe leather, smoked wings were smoked dry just short of jerky, and the ribs tasted boiled and then lathered in sauce. The Sides servings were so small. Red beans and rice had very little beans or rice mostly sauce that only tasted like Red Hot Sauce. The potato salad was terrible. Looked like they used those frozen cube potatoes from the grocery store and then drowned it with mayo. The macaroni and cheese was okay. The restaurant was dirty. We had our waitress clean our table before she brought out our food. The waitresses clothes were dirty. And THE last straw was when a waitress was flossing her teeth at the bar!! This the worst restaurant we have...
