So glad we found this little treasure! I especially love that they have dishes from several different countries. For instance pupusas from El Salvador. I couldn't decide on one thing so I tried several small items and everything was delicious. We visited in the afternoon and there was only one other couple there. Its very informal-like. A woman took our order and brought food out to us and we paid at the cash register when we were done (I didn't get a bill but the woman serving us was the same one at the cash register) If we wanted drinks there were coolers of bottled beverages or serve your own hortata (I assume) and something else (tea?)
I also loved the Mexican grocery. Making note that I don't need to go all the way in to East Dayton anymore for a Mexican grocery! I bought some candy for the kids but will come back for premade...
Read moreI've been in the store a couple of times however I waited to try the food before I compiled my review. I love everything about this place honestly. Its clean, no flashy nonsense, no noisy bar. Just a take out counter, a friendly woman and a paper menu. They spoke enough English they made it easy to understand the food and the order, and even if they didn't It wouldn't bother me. We ordered some tacos. I had a couple steak tacos and I tried a beef tongue taco. The brought out chips and had three different salsas. The food is outstanding and the prices are good. On the way out I picked up some chilis for something I was cooking at home. Total was $33, and I threw in a fiver for a tip. No frills, great food, a simple quiet meal amongst friendly people. Its a grand slam.
Again. Wanted some quick lunch. Another...
Read moreMy wife and I have been to the grocery store a couple of times, but never had eaten at the restaurant. Yesterday we met some gentlemen who had ordered some carryout food from here and it looked delicious. I asked where they got the food and they told me Las Penas Mexican Grocery & Restaurant. Today we tried the restaurant and the food was AMAZING!!! There are other mainstream Mexican restaurants in the area but the food does not compare to Las Penas! If you want great authentic Mexican food in a relaxed atmosphere add this place to your list. I promise you that you will not regret your decision. I had the Carne Asada burrito with Avacado. My wife had tacos, refried beans and rice. We will definitely be...
