I was in Fairfield, OH for a business trip with other colleagues, in this Irish restaurant is close to the hotels we use for our stay. I had never been there before this trip, but my colleagues recommended going, as they loved the bangers and mash plate.
Dingle House is located in an area where additional development will occur, so parking is pretty easy right now. It's a 1/4 to 1/2 mile walk if you're at one of the nearby hotels. I had enough walking from our task at hand during the day, so I opted to drive. I arrived at about 8:30 PM on a Monday night, and it was not crowded.
I was greeted by the bartender (Kelsey), and she provided me with a drink and food menu. I like fish tacos and noticed them on the menu, but she told me the fillets are grilled instead of fried as they are in their fish and chips dinner. While they are the unhealthier option, I prefer fried but took a chance on the grilled and was pleasantly surprised. I had no issues with its taste, and the potato wedges were done to perfection. Drink prices are average, or what you would expect from a restaurant in this type of retail location. I thought it was a bit funny they had Huyghe Brewery Delerium Tremens and Delerium Nocturnum beer, so I just had to take a picture of that.
The service was great on this visit, as Kelsey checked in regularly on everyone and attended to her work requirements as well. She did everything you'd 'expect', so it makes it even a better experience. In summary, I'll definitely visit Dingle House and try other offerings if I ever come back to the area. In particular, I have the Shepherd's Pie and Bangers and...
Read moreI generally give good reviews and love a good Irish place...and I really wanted to like this place.
First the good: really clean and nice place. It was a Friday and was busy but not overly so and the staff was upbeat and friendly. Great live music. The fish and chips was really good. The asparagus was very good as well. The cole slaw had a great taste. The desserts were very good. Lava Cake and Cheesecake.
Now the bad: HORRIBLY SEASONED food. 3 of the 4 dishes we tried had little to no taste. The steak was bland and quickly dried up. The Guinness pie was bland. One would expect a boldness because it is supposed to be made with Guinness and, yet, it wasn't tasty at all. Not to mention there was very little meat or vegetable in the Guinness Pie...so it was like eating a bowl of unsalted gravy. So too the Shepherd's pie.
VERY SMALL portions. It is almost like they are afraid you will have enough to eat. The cole slaw was smaller than a shot glass. The large version of the pretzel bite appetizer was about 20 pieces. The Shepherd's and Guinness pie was a very small platter.
OVERPRICED I could have gotten twice the amount of food with much better taste at Dublin Pub in Dayton, Ohio. The price was exorbitant...especially considering how poorly seasoned and small the portions were.
Would never go back here. Not like any Irish Pub or eatery I have ever eaten. It costs more than any I've ever eaten in and small tasteless food portions are enough to make me...
Read moreWhat a treat! We stumbled upon the Dingle House Irish Pub in West Chester yesterday. I was with my son who works as a cook in a popular Hamilton restaurant. We were both so pleased with our visit. He started with a pint of Guinness, and I had a pint of Harp ordered from a more than healthy selection of beers. They're two of our favorites, and they were both on tap. Next, we tried the fried dill pickles. They were amazing. Perfect breading and superb taste. I would return just to have those pickles again. My son had Bangers and Mash. He was very pleased with the sausages. They were tender, juicy, and full of flavor. I ordered the Shepherd's Pie. It was the best I've ever had, and I've been to Ireland, so that's saying something. A generous portion came plated with a delicious roll. It was another dish to make me return. Finally, we shared the Carmel Bread Pudding served with vanilla ice cream. The portion was huge, and the presentation was so appealing. We could only eat half of it. It was soft but not mushy. The caramel sauce was a nice addition to a truly stellar dessert.
Our server made a delicious meal a real treat with attentive service and a polite demeanor. He and the other employees certainly looked the part in their kilts.
Overall, this was an excellent dining experience. I highly recommend the Dingle House. I can't wait to take my wife. I think there is a plate of Fish and Chips calling my name. I don't think you can go wrong by...
