dolce Zola — Restaurant in West Chester

Go to Limoncello instead! I am very disappointed to have to post this review. This place used to be my favorite restaurant in West Chester and I’ve went there several times over the years and have recommended to so many. I had family visiting me in West Chester from far away for the weekend and I took them here on the only day we could get dinner in WC. We made reservations and the restaurant told us when our food came when I asked why they didn’t bring bread and sauce, they told us that they ran out of bread (how does an Italian restaurant run out of something that you get charged for through higher menu prices and do nothing about it). We asked to try one of their sauces for my little brother and she never brought it out. 10 minutes after we ordered she told us that they were out of one of the pastas we ordered (even though they claim to make all of their food from scratch everyday). We paid for soft drinks with free refills and she never asked or gave us any refills and never asked how our food was. The bill came to $177 for 4 adults and 1 child and the portions were absurdly small and I left feeling ripped off. My mom and I both ordered the $33 Pescatore (with crab and shrimp) and there was hardly any seafood in the dish (just noodles and sauce). I used to never finish my plates there and we left hungry. As a restaurant how can you run out of things like bread, sauce, and pastas for customers with reservations and not provide refills for customers who pay for soft drinks. At least have the courtesy to tell your customers before they order that you are out of things. They were clearly trying to rush us out so they could close despite not being busy at all. First, let me start by saying what a fantastic place with fantastic people. This restaurant has always been my favorite, and after tonight, I love it even more. I ordered carry-out this evening, and when I got home, I realized my order wasn’t what I had requested. I called to discuss the issue, and even though it was late—about 8:15-8:20 on a Sunday night, and they close at 8 pm—the staff handled the situation with such kindness and professionalism.

The server I spoke to was incredibly understanding and helpful. After figuring out that I had been given the wrong dish, he asked the kitchen if they could remake my original order. Despite being closed for over 30 minutes, the kitchen kindly agreed and even told me I could still come to pick it up. When I arrived, the chef greeted me with a smile and wave from the kitchen, then came out to personally apologize for the mix-up.

As for the food—it was absolutely outstanding, as always. This restaurant consistently delivers delicious dishes, and tonight was no exception. Their willingness to go above and beyond to correct a simple mistake speaks volumes about their dedication to their customers. Mistakes happen—we’re all human—but what truly matters is how those mistakes are handled. And let me tell you, they absolutely nailed it.

The customer service I experienced was 12/10, and the entire team was so kind, welcoming, and accommodating. They turned what could have been a frustrating situation into a delightful experience, and I’m so thankful for how gracious they were. I made a dinner reservation for 5pm at Dolce Zola, and I can confidently say it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy yet elegant ambiance that set the perfect tone for the evening.

The menu is through a qr code and it offers a diverse selection of Italian dishes, each crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients. I ordered the chicken parmigiana and Caesar salad, the chicken parmigiana was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. It was also a big portion! The flavors were well-balanced, and every bite was a delight. My dining companion also raved about his meals, with special mentions of risotto aurora and gnocchi. He exclaims it was a great serving of seafood! We ordered a few drinks and there was a special glitter drink recommended from our exceptional server Zabelle!

Beyond the exceptional food, the service was impeccable. Our server Zabelle, was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and happy to offer recommendations. Despite the restaurant being busy, the staff ensured a seamless and enjoyable dining experience. The staff was very quick to offer water refills and take our empty plates away.
