I don’t write a ton of reviews but the foodie spirit has moved me. I just moved back from Texas (lived there 18 years) and have been to Mexico and Mexico City quite a bit. The best tacos in the world imo are in Mexico City. This restaurant brought me back to Mexico City. Yes, these tacos are that good. These tacos would instantly be right there in the conversation for best tacos in DFW if this place were down there. And honestly they might be the best…

So what makes these tacos so good? Well first things first - they use a trompo to cook their al pastor. There is nothing more authentic than that. In Mexico City one of my favorite sites is meat roasting on the trompo with fat and juices dripping down. Their Birria tacos are slow cooked to perfection. The best birria tacos I ever had were on a road side stand in a tiny town going from Hidalgo back to Mexico City. These tacos were right there. We have co-champions.

I should also note the multiple salsas and guacamole here are fantastic. I would go back just for those alone.

I was so impressed with the restaurant I talked a little to the owner. It turns out these folks are from California and he took his entire team down to Mexico City for inspiration and hired an executive chef to help scope the menu and show folks how to prepare everything. It certainly shows.

If you want authentic Mexico-City CDMX style tacos that will blow your mind with flavor and robustness come here. Everything here is crafted to perfection. I’ll be coming back at least once a month if not...

If you’re looking for a fast-casual Mexican spot that’s equal parts cute, quick, and consistently delicious—this is the place. I’ve been to a couple of their locations now, and both have been nothing short of great. Same energy, same quality, and the same seriously addictive queso.

Let’s start with the vibe—bright, fun, and welcoming without trying too hard. It’s counter service, but the staff makes the whole experience feel way more personal. They’re fast, super friendly, and somehow always seem genuinely happy to be there (which, let’s be real, makes a big difference).

Now onto the food. First off: the queso. I don’t say this lightly—it’s perfect. Creamy, flavorful, and served hot enough to make you do that happy little food dance when you dip in. I would come back just for that. But then there are the taquitos, and oh man… crispy, golden, and packed with flavor. Whether you get chicken, beef, or veggie, they’re always spot on. Crunchy on the outside, tender and satisfying on the inside.

They’ve got a great variety of bowls, tacos, and burritos too, and everything I’ve tried has tasted fresh and made-to-order. It’s clear they don’t cut corners, even if they serve it up fast.

In a world full of average chain spots, this one really stands out. It’s my go-to when I want something quick but crave something really good. If you haven’t tried it yet, do yourself a favor—start with the queso and taquitos....

The octopus tacos were so good tonight that, after the first bite, I was shouting expletives out loud. I apologize to the table next to us.

This was our 4th time to Taco Mar. My wife and I split tacos (fish and octopus) and the California burrito. We also had a soup- which I forget the name of now.

The soup was fantastic. Rice and meat on the bottom. Deep rich broth. And just the right amount of cilantro. So good.

The tacos were phenomenal. The octopus was tender and perfectly charred. We have traveled long distances for good fish tacos in the past. I am happy to report, we won't have to leave West Chester anymore. I am craving the white sauce on them as I type this. The fish was good quality, and the shrimp were perfectly cooked imho.

You can tell the California burrito is made with love. The beef was tender and the marinade is some of the best I've tasted. I feared the fries might get too soggy; but that wasn't the case. The taco wasn't drenched in a sauce so you could taste the beef and fries. Perfect.

The build your own burrito will get you one of the best in the area. But their "grill" burritos (like the California) are next level good. Trust them to build you something that you will want to come back the next day and get again.

Great addition to West Chester. We've spoken to the owner twice. He is passionate about his food and service. It shows...

We came in with the expectation of 4.8-star reviews and they didn't disappoint. I think it could be a few degrees cooler in there, especially in the front, while ordering food. The first impression is definitely not of a full service restaurant, but it quickly stops feeling like fast food too. They don't have a full table service, but they'll bring the food to you. You'll clean it up after you're done eating and you're on your way, because you would have paid after the order was placed. We had the quesadilla Mexicana and birria (short ribs) meal and both were spectacular. Portions were big, but not intimidating and even the presentation (for a not-truly-a-sit-down restaurant) was inviting. The meat was falling off my ribs and the sauce was just enough spicy that it didn't take away from the juiciness of the meat. My wife's chicken quesadilla was very flavorful and tender, and the sides complemented it nicely. We'll definitely be back soon! BTW: it's great to not eat the whole plate, take leftovers home and instead finish yourself nextdoor at the gelateria. Soooo yummy!

My wife being from the West Chester area talked of Taco Mar as if it was legend. The food, was good, but it didn't hit the legendary status. It can't seem to find it's place between sit down restaurant and a Wawa food ordering kiosk. When you walk in, you can order at the counter, kiosk, QR code with your phone or with a person. There's no real table service other then they bring the food to you, buss your own table. Maybe this is convenient, but this made the experience even less forgettable. Food wasn't bad, wasn't knock your socks off either. Middle of the pack charging higher then normal prices. Everything is ala cart. Want rice? Extra. Want beans? Extra. Chips? Extra. Salsa was in the smallest containers I've ever seen. Pass and seek other taco places outside the borough.
