One of my continuing Foodie adventures has been trying out Chicken restaurants. It's been the new trend like Burgers were some years back. It's tough to make a product that stands out with all the new spots. Recently I've been impressed with Colbies, Hangry Joe's and what I consider the best, Asads. Was very underwhelmed by Raising Caines.
I've walked right by Fire! At their Booths Corner location in lieu of Roast Beef. I've come to know owner and chef Jamie Gaffney over social media and like his whole culinary outlook. So I was thrilled to both meet him and eat his chicken at their West Chester location recently.
@firenashvillehotchicken is the result of Jamie visiting legit southern spots like Princes Chicken and it shows. A very simple but strongly curated menu that revels in southern cuisine.
I ordered their Signature Fire! Sandwich. You get to choose your heat index (I went regular hot) and dark or white. I asked for white but I loooove the dark option. It's something that separates them from other spots.
It was, in a word, fantastic. A hearty Brioche bun, a little slaw, pickles and pimento. And 2 giant perfectly seasoned chicken strips. Unlike some I've had recently, the heat was just right, enough to make my bald spot sweat a bit.
I'd put it on par with among the best I've had recently including Asads. Blows most other chains out of the water.
Overall a great place worth checking out (WC or Booths Corner on weekends) . Jamie and staff are also super nice. Could have chatted about food for...
Read moreNot what it used to be! We ate here in 2022 when it was good food & customer service. However dinner in 2023 was a completely different story. When my wife bit into her chicken taco it was pink and undercooked. She brought it to the attention of the 2 college-aged girls, the 1st offered to remake or refund, we asked for a refund. The other with attitude said "let me see that" and had the 1st girl show the cook. She then came out and said that is just what happens with "dark meat". Well 1) they shouldn't be using dark meat and 2) what was served was clearly not dark meat. Already upset by the attitude we pushed back but then the millennial got all snippy about our 'attitude'. Also my wings, which came out looking huge, had very little edible meat on them (chewy spots) and also were undercooked, which I know because I spent the rest of the night with diarrhea getting it out. They clearly not only improperly cooked the food but also lied to our faces about it and did not do a remake or refund. Definitely not coming back for the attitude, poor customer service and...
Read moreThis place is fantastic! Best chicken in town! The loaded tots are great! And don't forget to try the banana pudding!
Why I subtracted a star: I don't like pickles. Every time I have ordered from here, I have pickles on my meal. First it was because the website menu differed ever so slightly from the actual menu. The following times, I ordered both online and in person. Every time, pickles. I have only been able to have one or two meals without pickles. I honestly don't know what I need to do to not get them. And they completely ruin the meals for me, especially when I got loaded tots. Every piece of bacon was accompanied by pickles. I even tried calling to place my order instead of online, but the phone rang so much it just stopped and hung up on me.
If not for the pickles completely ruining my meals, I'd give this place a perfect 5 stars.
I'd go there more often if they were more consistent following simple customizations.
TL;DR: if you customize your order, check it before you...
