Kildares Irish Pub - West Chester, PA — Restaurant in West Chester

I was so disappointed and upset about the experience my friends and I had at Kildares last weekend. I have been to Kildares so many times and have even people who I am friends with that work there and how my friends and I were treated this past weekend was unacceptable. I have never received this kind of treatment from anyone and I do not believe anywhere you go anyone does this to their customers. My friends and I decided to go to Kildares and get one drink. The bartender made all my friends a drink. When we tasted the drink we really did not taste any liquor. I usually am not the one to go up and complain or even ask for anything for that matter but I decided to go up and ask the bartender if he could put a dab more of tequila because my friends and I felt like it was all soda. The guy that decided to "help" got an attitude with me and took my drink and put a straw in it and drank out of it!! I could not believe my own eyes that anyone in the right mind would do that. I was pretty much being accused of lying and that there was plenty of "alcohol". He ended up taking the straw and throwing it across the bar and being all upset got the alcohol and threw some real quick and walked away without giving my friend some. She was even willing to pay for a little "extra". I was so disrespected and upset I went to the other bar in Kildares and I asked to speak with a manager but did not seem to have gotten one. So I spoke with someone else who said that they did not work there " a lot". He decided to be nice and give a little more to my friend but with an attitude as well and said to me its "not a big deal, its just alcohol gosh". I was again shocked because YES, you're right the whole issue wasn't even about that in the end.... it was about RESPECT and customer service and making sure you treat people the right way. My friends and I are adults we went out just to get together and for us it wasn't even about getting drunk or whatever it was just a nice evening out. I honestly am disgusted at the service. That one bartender is far from being a good employee. Please I hope that someone else does not receive the same treatment. I hope the management steps up and does something about that. Love Kildares. Been there for a few years now in West Chester. Good food, good people. Just tonight wasn't. Tonight is St Patricks Day. Busy night for them. I just get there and order my 1st drink. Couldn't get back to the bar and my friends drag me aside to the booths next to the bar. Went back for some napkins, and the lady bartender accuses me of under tipping her and snapping at her. I can understand the tip part but it was still my first drink, and I was only able to pay for it with the cash I had on hand.(For context, I pay cash first if I was able to pay it off then start a tab. I had exactly enough to pay the drink.) I was going to order more after the one later (with card), but after what she said to me I didn't order anymore. I was compeletly confused and stressed. Even though I never snapped, I tried to get her attention to ask what she mean't since I thought I miss heard her. She just gave me napkins and said "don't ever come back over here." Got her attention one more time, gave her a tip and said "it wasn't me. I am sorry you dealt with that tonight, but it wasn' t me." She just took the tip and left. Never felt so confused, and insulted as a customer. I will understand the workers are stressed from everything since it is St Patrick's Day and that it is a busy night but still. The fact she just went to accused me, and didn't give me any explenation as to what she thought I did was rude. Thankfully she let me get her attention, give her a small tip with whatever I had left, which wasn't much, and to say that I never snapped at her, but still it shouldn't have gone that far. She said nothing, took the tip and left. I still will recommend people go to Kildares because it is a nice place to eat and drink. Plus I had friends who previously work there. One of the best bars in West Chester. Just from that experience I want people to be cautious. I don't ever want to feel that stressed at a bar with friends again and have other people go...

The food is good and the drinks are okay however the staff here are incredibly rude let me share my experience. I came here with my friend a few weeks ago on a week night and the place was empty. I saw one of those music selection boxes on the wall and decided to play a song. The first song went through fine however on my next song the owner literally cut the song off after I had paid for it within the first 20 seconds. In all honesty this was a rock song which I understand some people are not crazy about however there was no cursing in this song or anything that would make it inappropriate to the other guests. Considering the place was empty and they usually play rap songs in here with loads of curse words and fowl language I was pretty surprised they cut my song. So I asked the bar tender for the money I put in the machine ( not that I even cared about the dollar it was the principle of you arent censoring my music and taking my money at the same time) The bar tender proceeded to give me attitude about getting the money back eventually did go to the back and came out with the dollar he than proceeded to throw it at me with my friend sitting right there even after I thanked him for grabbing it for me he ignored me. This place sucks there are tons of better bars in West Chester this place also has a cover charge on Friday night its literally the only bar on the street with a cover charge!!!
