Ryan's Pub — Restaurant in West Chester

Local Irish pub with unexpected great food Ok not a glam shot of the Italian roast pork sandwich; but, after I took the first bite I realized I needed to write a review. Roast pork sandwich with red peppers, long shots and provolone complimented with warm au jus, French fries and a pickle. The perfect sandwich can only be had with an exquisitely warm and slightly toasted roll. Bam. Yeah, it had that. Appetizer I shared was the corned beef egg rolls, since we were torn over getting something corn beef, or Irish traditional, this was a compromise. Tasty, fried but not greasy app, just enough to whet your appetite. Wow. I really enjoyed these. The waitress was very sweet, helpful with our whiskey questions, even though she didn't know, cheerfully asked the bartender and reported back to us. I have to first say that half of us enjoyed our meals for lunch; the two who ordered the hot roast beef. I ordered fish and chips with a Coke. Coke was flat, poorly mixed, and the ice smelled bad. The fish was completely without flavor aside from that of the old frying oil (smelled overly fishy) & the pieces of fish were pretty small, more like fish nuggets. The 'chips' were apparently waffle-cut fries at one point but, they were so overdone that they broke into pieces when stabbed with a fork. The tartar sauce was old and tasted off. The coleslaw was equally unappetizing. Decor is nice and the service was quick and attentive but, of all the good bar food that can be had in town, this is down at the bottom with the likes of Jitters and...

Found the staff to be very accommodating in the private room upstairs to be perfect for a post funeral celebration where we had hours and hours and hours to connect and remember and be at peace without other people coming through... Highly recommend for this. The custom mini buffet food was a very good Caesar salad, and good but average pasta and beef, for this event, but I'm sure one could get anything one wants.
