Stove and Tap is always consistent in service, food quality and atmosphere. We have been several times, but this particular review is directed towards "Date Night"- which is a special they run on Wednesdays. $40 for two: 2 "select" entrees, a dessert to share + a bottle of wine. The options for entrees were good- there are about 4 things on the menu- this is a non picky eater menu. We had the dan dan noodles and the salmon tacos, both delicious. The bottle of pinot grigio was great, and the cheesecake was fantastic (however, we aren't dessert people, hopefully they can do a small app instead). We would love to see a rotational menu as well (change it once a month?)- keep people coming in the door.
Now onto a review for the restaurant itself: The only thing that is disappointing is the brunch drink special that has since been discontinued. We are in our mid 30's and having a fun brunch spot with mimosas is more enticing than a BYOB. I understand the college kids get rowdy on "bottomless", but the $20 carafe special was the only reason we would come to brunch. Limit 1 per group of 2 and see how that plays out. We went to brunch a few sundays ago and it was DEAD in there. You need to get people back in the door- us millenials love to treat ourselves, but also want a good special as well- $5 mimosas don't...
Read moreMy family and I came in this afternoon for a late lunch. We were greeted by the hostess who gave us a choice of seats. We chose a high top table near the window. The hostess left our menus and told us our server would be over. There were only 3 other tables being serviced and 3 servers on the floor. I watched the servers moving around to service m the other tables but no one ever came to our table. We waited quite a while , I made eye contact with two of the servers who were servicing the other tables no one came to our table. I also made eye contact with the hostess who seemed to notice we weren’t being serviced, still no one came to our table. At this point we got up to walk to the door, as we were walking past the hostess stand she said “Have a great day”. I turned to her and said you do know you just sat us right? She said “what”? I reiterated “you just sat us, we waited and waited and no one came to service our table”. Her response…Oh I’m sorry. As we were walking to another restaurant we saw a friend, we told her what happened. She said she was not surprised, she mentioned the staff at Stove and Tap are typically students running the restaurant who are not customer service oriented. She recommended we try Sedona Tap House. Service was 10/10 at STH. I DO NOT recommend...
Read moreIt's a shame (in what seems like a general philosophy of turning tables) my lunch experience with old time friends got cut short. It was my first time here and we chose S&T out of all the great places in West Chester to catch up with good food and drinks.
Wierdly, out of the clear blue, a staff member asked us for our drink menu back during a midday Saturday period when most tables were empty; it was super slow in the dining room so we had to assume they wanted to simply move us along. They easily could have invited us to join them at the bar to continue our visit if they needed the table but no such invite was made. It's not like they needed the table for other customers lined up around the corner. It was 3p in the afternoon 😔
In any case the cocktails were delicious (definitely try the S&T old fashioned) and the brisket dip was a fantastic lunch option. I love the decor and layout of the dining room. The bar looks pretty cool although I never made it over to check it out fue to our hasty service. The server was pleasant and attentive. We just got a bad vibe with the drink menu move.
Go to enjoy the food and drink but set a timer on your watch so you are ready for...
