Looking for puerto rican food in chicago! I am giving this place a one star because they failed to read all of the notes. My jibarito still came with tomatoes! Moreover, the arroz con gandules tasted burnt! It looked good, but it tasted burnt. I was missing the item I was CRAVING! Which was the Papas Pollo Entero. I called the restaurant and spoke to some woman to tell her about my order and I was blind transferred and some other woman began to speak on the phone, she had no type of manners. She literally said, "Yes" with an attitude, and I said, "what do you mean yes??" I had to re explain the reason of my call. She told me that all she saw on her screen was the jibarito and the coco rico.(that coco rico rim or whatever its called was dirty! I inserted a picture) I then told her that I had received the side order of the maduros for the Papas Entero Pollo I had ordered, and she tells me, "Do you mean the jibarito?" I then said, "No, I received the jibarito, but in addition, I received the maduros which was the side for the Papas Pollo Entero (had to repeat myself a few times, like lady, I know what I am saying and I am telling you what I received) (those maduros did not look appetizing at all, they looked super burnt and old, I also inserted a picture of it) She seemed like she didn't want to help me, I didn't want to continue going back and forth with her, to end the conversation, I told her I would just call grubhub and she said that I should do just that. I should have asked for her name, but then again, how rude she was, she could have given me a fake name. If you see this, and I hope you do, I did receive maduros!

Great food! They give you complimentary bread and butter as a starter. I got the roasted chicken with tostones and a side of white rice. My sister also got the roasted chicken but with a side of sweet plantains and my kiddo got the kids nuggets with fries. Over all the food was delish & the ambiance was nice. They had someone playing music outside along with his saxophone. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because they seemed to be backed up. I’m not sure if they’re short staffed, but it wasn’t too packed for them to have taken that long to take or give us our order. Took about 25 minutes to just take our order. Also the waitress would forget certain items and things we kindly asked for and we’d have to remind her to bring them, but she was nice! I still do recommend for everyone to try it, and I will certainly go again.

I got to say this is one of the best sit down restaurant I've been to in the heart of Humboldt Park area between the Puerto Rican flags on Division. I was recommened to Papa's Cache by none other then, "Reina The Cake Lady". Humboldt Park area. Check her out on facebook under Reina's Cakes.

When I walked into the restaurant me and my daughter were greeted by a friendly waitor by the name of Johnny. There was only one couple eating dinner at the time but as soon as my daughter and I sat down customers started to flow in and the place got packed quickly.

Its a really cute place, nice music, friendly staff and owner Papa Cache was very friendly. I felt like I was eating among friends and family. :)

Now let me tell you about the food. Ay Dios mio, que ricura! I went with the recommendations of the waiter Johnny which was the Jibarito Sandwich with grilled chicken and all the trimmings, Salcita, tomate, lechuga, you know the works, and the garlic sauce he gave me on the side when I poured it over the Jibarito it was delicious. Oh did I mention it comes with a side dish I went with the arroz con gandules, recommened again by my waitor.

My daughter ordered the Bistique en salsa de tomate, con cebollitas, ensalada de lechuga y tomate, y arroz con gandules. Ay Papa!

I absolutely love this place! But hey don't take my word for it. Go check...

As a fellow Puerto Rican who doesn’t eat pork I greatly appreciate this place ! It’s rare to see a Puerto Rican restaurant have rotisserie chicken. On top of that the chicken was amazing & it was my first time ever trying it on a jibarito 🔥 In fact it was some of the best Chicken Ive ever tried in my life. The food was well worth the wait & it reminded me of my Abuela’s cooking 👌🏽 I’ve tried several Puerto Rican restaurants in the city & this spot is hands down the best.

The only reason why I give this place a 4 star review is because of the decor inside. It was extremely cheesy 😬 the owner has his face plastered all over the wall & on top of that he has his family photos engraved into the tables. This actually kind of made me feel uncomfortable. I was drinking a bottle of Don Julio & I felt disrespectful putting that bottle on someone’s family photos. Also due to gentrification, Humboldt Park is lacking the boricua pride it once had years ago. There can be a lot more things inside & outside the restaurant that show off the Puerto Rican heritage / pride & I believe that can attract more people. This is just my personal opinion for the owner 💯💯 nonetheless this won’t stop me from returning back or buying...
