DO NOT GO to the Plaza restaurant in Benton, IL if you are not a local. You will be ignored and served cold food. Locals are greeted at the door, escorted to tables & served hot food.

Visitors beware, this level service will not happen to you. You must, find your own seat, sit & wait patiently for the locals arriving after you to be seated by the hostess, and provided their favorite beverage. Then, you may possibly receive some attention.

When finally able to place an order, expect the food to served cold. Be prepared for the "hot replacement" to be tepid at best & take longer to get than the original order. When the replacement food arrives, the meal will be bland. Example: patty sausage is simply ground pork. Sausage has some spices. At the Plaza, Bland is good.

Do not waste time ordering OJ because, "no one thawed it out".

There is no way this is a 4 star place for anyone other than a local. It deserves negative 4 stars, as the Service is bad, and the food worse

We love this place! The food is great and so economical. Breakfast specials under $6.00. But as good as the food is, the staff is absolutely fantastic. All of the ladies were catering to our 3 year old grandson , slipping him quarters to put in the little machines near the door and giving him a special treat bag since he ate all of his Mickey pancake breakfast, all after asking our permission first. Earlier this summer, we were inquiring about a produce stand in the area. When our server brought our check, she also brought us tomatoes and cucumbers! Just as the back of their shirts say, You come in a customer and leave as family! Thanks for another great meal...

We went for lunch an hour before they closed at 2 pm. We both ordered the open face beef, and it was a mess. Yes, it is a huge portion, but quality over quantity wins every time. The beef was clearly cooked to death and dry. The potatoes were instant, and they loaded up 4 slices of bread with potatoes and trickled what looked like the meat and gravy that they were throwing out at close. Speaking of close, the server, who was ready to get off I guess continued to sweep around our table as we ate... we were done at 1:50. A sad experience, I will skip...
