I have been looking at this establishment for some time now, and I finally got a day off to try it. Just to give a little back story, I had death in the family recently and I just needed somewhere to go that was a little ducked off and I could reserve some time to myself to gather my thoughts... When I walked into the establishment, I was extremely excited by the games. I didn't know that they had arcade! but my excitement was quickly dimed when the bartender told me that she could not serve me because I had a Starbucks cup... Mind you, she never greeted me or welcomed me. She just told me she couldn't serve me. I told her that was fine. I went outside in the heat, drank my drink down and came back inside. I was still unwelcomed and I felt extremely out of place as an African American, honestly. I didn't order anything cheap, I ordered Woodford Reserve and I did not receive a full 1.5 shot. Being that I am a bartender and I can eye these things... It was a brunette bartender with glasses who was very rude and uninviting. I asked for the manager, and she told me there was no manager available. I will not recommend any of my peers to this establishment being that it is very unwelcoming and I felt out of place. I still tipped her $11.00 because as I said before, I'm a bartender and I'm going to do what is right because I have integrity. However, I cannot deny the fact that there was an extremely overwhelming sense of unwelcomeness there, and I will never...
Read moreThe only reason it's not 5 Stars is because it was HOT. There are plenty of AC vents blowing toward the bar, and it did kick on once, for just a second (I think), but it wasn't even warm outside and it was hot in there. I am sure they will get it fixed before it actually Summer. The Best....actually the Two Best things about Callaway's is the Bartenders and the Music/Sound System. Nothing worse than being in a place with TouchTunes and you can't hear your music, but the sound system here is way above average. Crystal clear and at the perfect volume that still allows conversation without screaming. The Bartenders....super friendly, efficient, and plentiful. They even have time for some conversation when it's pretty busy. There are several pool tables (a whole room) and plenty of people to play with. There's also a good number er of retro pinball and video games...for when your date gets awkwarrrrd. Don't forget, if you leave your car in the lot overnight, get a pass for your windshield from a bartender so it...
Read moreThis is a classic dive bar, but that's not an insult because that's exactly what it's supposed to be. They've got pool tables and games if that's what your into, a great jukebox that you can play from an app on your phone, and plenty of diverse company sidled up to the bar drinking good liquor and cheap beer.
Their kitchen offerings are pretty standard bar food, but surprisingly come out a notch above! Their twice baked wings are popular, I've seen some beautiful pizzas come out, as well as an impressive chicken fingers basket that looks big enough for two. Being diabetic I'm always watching my carbs so the cook made me their take on a Philly cheese steak minus the hoagie roll, and it was delicious!
