After over 32 years as a D's customer I recently find myself less inclined to go there. Number 1 is the parking. As we get older having to park across the street and walk a good distance has become difficult. Number 2 is disappointment with pricing. A hamburger steak does not seem to come with sides but the menu states sides with an entree are $1.19 and separately $4.99. Since the steak doesn't come with sides each side added was $4.99 plus an extra charge for gravy . So a $13.99 steak, mashed potatoes with gravy and a small side of veggies is just beyond my budget EDIT: After a review of my receipt and a response from Billy I want to clarify that the hamburger steak with grilled onions and mashed potatoes was $12.99. Perfectly reasonable for a good product. My concern on the pricing was an additional charge of $4.99 for a small side of veggies when the menu lead us to believe they would be $1.19 or $1.99 (not sure now ) as a side with an entree. And $2.49 for a small container of gravy for the mashed potatoes. The explanation was that since the potatoes were a side any additional would be charged at the full price not at the additional to an entree price. As for parking we were advised to park in in the parking garage across from Terra. That would require walking from the car to the street and crossing State St then through an alley to get to D's parking lot. At our age and very arthritic knees this is not possible. Thanks D' s for taking care of customers that have been more than loyal since you opened...
Read moreMan…. It pains me to leave this review but I feel like it has to be done. My wife and I moved to Columbia in June of 2021 and D’s Wings became our favorite wing location instantly. We would frequent them as much as financially possible. I'm unsure what’s happened but the last 3 times have been disappointing and extremely lackluster. Our boneless wings the last 2 times have been dry and with a texture that resembles pine straw… The bone-in wings have nothing special about them except the sauce that they’re dipped in. The texture is alright but the taste of the chicken on the inside of the bone-in and boneless wings aren’t anything like they used to be. I couldn’t bring myself to even finish my meal this time around. My best friend and his fiance came through the area and tried them and had the same experience with the food and said that they’d never be back because if it. Our server was excellent, though! On point with refilling our drinks and stopping by our table regularly to ensure that everything was okay. Just didn’t have the heart to tell her about the food because I know they would’ve tried remaking it or offering us something else or a free dessert and we just weren’t having it. We both decided that we won’t be back. Hopefully things change because what they had going for them...
Read moreI want to preface this by stating the only reason we selected D’s was because it won “best wings” under “best of columbia” recently and this just simply could not be farther from the truth.
We went on Saturday around mid day me and two friends. Restaurant was decently busy but we were seated pretty quickly and handed menus. Immediately I was taken back, menus are straight out of 1999 an obnoxiously large tri-fold covered in that thick protective plastic layer. Now this wasn’t anything outright terrible but when the menu is also caked in food grime and other shit to the point I barely even wanted to touch it that’s ridiculous and this wasn’t just an off thing with my menu it was all 3 of us. Then to top it off we get served drinks with no straws and had to ask them after that ordered a Pitcher of beer which got to the table almost room temp.
Then we got the wings and fries which each of us ordered. Bland under cooked barely crispy and the lack of overall seasoning or flavor from the sauce choices was very apparent. I’m sorry but there are a dozen places that serve better wings in this city and I cannot fathom how they were rated best of anything.
Overall the experience had us so unsatisfied we left without finishing the food and made a decision to go...
