It was my very first time visiting Iowa. I went into the Dollar Tree to pick up a few things and i could smell your food going in, inside of the store and i remember that it smelled so good. I decided to come and check this place out the following day. Honestly i have had authentic mexican food in 3 different states. Minnesota,Las Vegas & Arizona. I have to say that yours is the BEST that i have EVER tasted. loved that you had a sign saying that you were a clean establishment and that you had big bottles of hand sanitizers before you came in the restaurant and at every section in the restaurant.I loved that the food was fresh and that they weren't by any means stingy with the food.I ordered mix of fajitas,Elote Bowl & One Beef Taco.I have to say that ALL of the food was fresh, hot and enough for you to have left overs. The Elote, Fajitas & Salsa were delicious . I didn't like how i was greeted, it didn't make me feel welcome.I didn't like that you were only given 3 tortillas with your fajitas because you definitely needed more.I was very disappointed because i didn't get to enjoy my chips and salsa because the chips were stale and i only stay 5 mins from this location. I definitely would come back here with out hesitation because the food was very good, hot, fresh, flavorful and...
Read moreI visited with my husband and two kids (12 & 17) for lunch on a Thursday around noon. We were seated promptly and our drinks were ordered and delivered quickly and correctly. We also got chips and salsa in a timwly manner and were refilled when it got low without being asked or having to wait for someone to check in on us. I had the quesadilla rellena with chicken and I was disappointed that it was bland. My plate was watery. I'm not sure if it was from the quesadilla contents or if when the pico de gilo was added to my plate it brought over a ton of juices. My son wanted a beef taco. He got a tacquito type of meal. I believe it was a miscommunication, my husband offered to trade him his taco and he'd eat the tacquito and or order another taco. He said the tacquito wasn't good and he didn't eat it. He ordered another beef taco. My daughter had the shrimp quesadilla and she said it was fine. Nothing was wrong with it, but it wasn't anything special. The wait staff took a while to bring us our ticket so we could pay and leave. But everyone was friendly. We'll probably try a different place the next time we are in the mood for...
Read moreThe Monterrey and Mazatalan restaurants have always been among my favorites. The West Des Moines is no exception. We had the Fajitas for Two were sizzling and a generous portion. Unfortunately, the two of the wait staff were terrible. The complimentary chips and salsa were nearly thrown at us. The waiter was slow to show up for both drink and food orders. The wait for food was uncharacteristically long. If we hadn't said something, we'd likely still be waiting. Our order came quickly after we raised the issue. It was hot and fresh, so I think the order ticket didn't hit the kitchen until after we complained. We waited for our bill to the point of embarrassment. I finally sent my wife to do some shopping. Five minutes later I still didn't have my bill. This was after telling another waiter! I finally went to pay without a bill. I told the cashier about the problem, but got only a murmur.
Don't let this put you off from an otherwise good restaurant. Other than two hilariously mixed up orders over the last ten years, I have no complaints...
