The staff is friendly, especially the younger girl. I don’t know her name but she has been there for some time and has a beautiful tanned skin. She’s a sweetheart! The food is good but the last two times I went there I noticed something deeply disturbing. It was the same employee both times and I think I overheard that he is the owner’s nephew. Nonetheless, the other male and female employees I’ve seen appear to engage in appropriate food handling and I don’t want the other staff to get in trouble, not trying to sound mean in describing this particularly employee but if the owner reads this comment, and takes into consideration the customer’s experience, the employee is a male on the younger side and heavier than the other males I’ve seen working there in the past. Nonetheless, the first time I saw him I was waiting for my togo order and he came in and dropped something off and went to the orange tray where the meat was cut and my his hand in the food and grabbed food with his fingers and started eating pieces of shredded steak. Today, I got there and he again was eating the food (shredded steak) with his hands, wiped his hand on his mouth, and proceeded to touch my tacos. I watched as he did this and packed my tacos. Then he came and was joking around with the girl at the register and pushed her in a joking manner. Again didn’t wash his hands and went to put the rest of my order in a box. I hope that these two instances are isolated instances but I’m sorry, him not washing his hands or using gloves and eating the available food is simply DISGUSTING! I also saw an article that they have multiple health code violations. Most of the staff is nice and the food is good, but I just can’t get over today. Spreading his germs on my food. The employees should use gloves and was their hands for the recommended time by the health department. Between this place, Dona Linda, and La Rancherita why is it so hard to find a clean place and good food? They do appear clean where the tables are but clearly the food handling needs to be addressed I will be taking my order elsewhere because if I have to tell them that they should wash their hands (at the very least) and wear gloves, I am not going to get my point across. Our family has ordered from here almost weekly if not multiple times per week. We will be going elsewhere...
Read moreI've been going here for a few years now, and I absolutely love the food. Typically I will call in an order for pick-up. There is a slight language barrier for non Spanish speakers, and it has resulted in some of my dishes being prepared incorrectly, such as enchiladas being prepared with spicy Rojas (red) sauce instead of the mild Verde (green) sauce, or tamales being chicken instead of pork.
The food is made to order and it always tastes fresh. The refried beans are probably their worst side. They are very watery and they don't taste that great. The tamales and enchiladas are top notch.
Many drinks are available, including Jarritos and Mexican Coca-Cola, which is made with cane sugar instead of high fructose syrup. And there's always horchata.
The staff is friendly and very kind. The place itself is always very clean with many tables available for small to large parties. I also believe they are a BYOB.
