Oak Beach Bar + Grill — Restaurant in West Haven

What an awesome new addition to the Savin Rock community! We visited on a Wednesday night and they were slammed, which is awesome to see! Loved the ambiance and thought they had a great variety on the menu. Started off with the chili lime wings, which had plenty of meat on their bones, and the fried calamari, which came with an incredible lemon aioli. My fiancé loved his cocktail and fish tacos, and I ordered the ricotta gnocchi. I actually don’t order gnocchi myself too often, but with this one being homemade ricotta gnocchi, I went for it. I’m so glad I did, because it was fantastic!! The sauce was delicious too and had so much garlic, which I loved. For dessert, we shared a piece of cheesecake, which was one of the lightest and creamiest that we’ve had at a restaurant. We were told that the chef’s wife makes it who actually used to own her own cheesecake business in Greenwich! I’ll definitely be keeping this spot in mind over the summer because it’s within walking distance from the beach and boardwalk. My girlfriend and I decided to try this new local restaurant today for lunch and we both have nothing but great things to say about our experience. We decided to sit at the bar, and our bartender Gino was super friendly , attentive and helpful. He recommended the Savin on the rocks cocktail which was made with House made hibiscus vodka. This cocktail was very refreshing and super delicious. I ordered the cheeseburger which came perfectly cooked as I ordered it medium rare. It was one of the best cheeseburgers I’ve had ever. I used to say that Rudy’s in New Haven had the best burger around but this place changed my opinion. The burger came with housemaid coleslaw and perfectly seasoned fries. As a matter fact everything was perfectly seasoned. There were no salt and pepper shakers on the bar or at any of the tables in the restaurant, which is always a good sign that the kitchen knows what they’re doing. Perfect blend of bar with great food and restaurant with great drinks. Guinness on tap always warms my heart... I Love Apps! (appetizers) Started with the Meatballs - simply amazing. Mozzarella stuffed, great sauce & accompanying bread. Crackling calamari, which was perfectly fried & tender with three great dipping sauces and the Stuffed Squash Flowers which were to die for! - you have to experience them to truly understand. I had the Shrimp & Scallops entree (obviously a seafood connoisseur). The scallops were plump and delicious, shrimp cooked equally perfect in a uniquely light yet filling sauce with spinach & white beans.

Tried their homemade Churros (cream cheese stuffed!!!) & a Pistachio Martini recommended by Holly, our sweet and attentive server, that perfectly ended an Amazing Meal & Amazing Experience!
