First time trying it- service was fast, attentive and friendly. Tonight, they had live music. The person playing was fantastic and his vocal range was very good. One minor problem, and its not his fault, just something I notice every time theres live music in a pub- it drowns out everything. Pleasant conversation on date night, the waitress describing specials, patrons telling the waitress their orders... if the music was half the volume it was, it would have been sublime. Have to say it again for the record: the arist was fantastic. His playing, his singing, patron engagement, song selection. The volume was just way overboard for a small pub. We ordered the Garlic Bread with Garlic fondue- easily one of the best appetizers I've ever ordered anywhere, in my life. It was cheesy, savory and packed with garlic. A+ My smashed burger melt was also fantastic. Perfectly cooked to medium, carmelized onions melted in my mouth, bacon was crispy with just the right amount of salt. The bread it was served on was beyond fantasic. The bread was a rustic type of sourdough, I think. I was far too busy enjoying it to really care about the technicalities. A+, again My girlfriend ordered the tenderloin steak, and asked for the glaze to not be served with her steak. Either the waitress couldnt hear us properly over the music (we had to repeat ourselves multiple times throughout the ordering process) or the chef neglected to leave the glaze out (TL;DR: the glaze was delivered on the plate) . Either way, she was unimpressed with the dish. The meat was perfectly tender, perfect temperature- but it was barely seasoned, with hardly a crust.
Overall, it was an above average experience . We are likely to return on a date night in the future - we both agreed that the whole experience was an 8/10. If this pub wants a 9 or to close in on a 10, they need to improve the volume of the live music, or somehow make it so that conversing or ordering food doesnt require alternative communicarion methods, such as smoke signals; I think its safe to say that the plate that was prepared wrong was due to the overwhelming volume...
Read moreWell I used to like the Savin Rock Roasting Company back in the day. So we tried the new Breakwall in that location with my 6 friends Saturday night.. Although the food was pretty good for the most part, the overall evening was not good. First of all the bar had no Kettle One or Sam Octoberfest available two things we asked for. Our waitress took our revised drink orders and we ordered 2 appetizers at the same time as the drinks. After awhile our drinks came so we put in our dinner selections. I also ordered French Onion soup. We got our salads first and we all finished those and finally I got my onion soup. Although the soup tasted decent it had pieces of the outer skin in it. That was gross. Come on skin the onion properly. I finished my soup and still no appetizers yet?? I had to ask the guy in charge what happened to the appetizers. Chicken wings and nachos are not that mysterious. They finally came and they were okay but our meals came out before we had finished the apps. The place was not crowded and there were adequate staff on duty. Our waitress definitely did not to seem to have an understanding of timing the delivery of the food nor did she check in enough to notice our frustration. The bus boy was very nice but his afro should have been properly restrained. When dinner was over 3 of us ordered coffee and dessert. We got our coffee and finished drinking it and still no desserts. For the second time I had to ask the guy in charge about our dessert orders and he went and checked. Ten minutes later they finally arrived. We were celebrating my birthday that night. Unfortunately is was disappointing. I doubt any of us will be returning to...
Read moreOK, so it's 9:15 on a Saturday and none of us is in the mood for the usual. So we remember passing by here & decide to investigate. Wow, were we pleasantly surprised! What an excellent experience. The staff, the food, & the atmosphere all add up to a great time. Between the 3 of us, we went with a Chicken Caprese sandwich, Mushroom Cheeseburger, & Sally's Steak Burger (shaved Angus w/ melted American, mush, & onions). I had the steak sandwich, & all I can say is my mouth got happier with every bite. Tender doesn't start to describe it! All 3 sandwiches were absolutely tasty. I also appreciated the selection of beer in tap. Went with a Czech pilsner that complemented my meal well. They also serve Scotch with class, having the extra large square cubes available. Overall, it was great value for money. A nice night out after a long week of work was just what I needed. As a side note, please get the acoustic guitar guy to learn some Sabbath. Since it was our first time there, the family wouldn't let me tell it out!! We're gonna go back, and I...
