This place is absolutely the new hidden gem of West Jordan and we couldn't be more excited that there is something THIS GOOD and authentic within the hood. We can now confidently say we have a really good Asian restaurant in the area where we don't have to drive an hour to get to and that honestly other people will very likely start driving an hour to come to. It's really hard to find this good of Asian cuisine in SLC and the fact that it's 10 minutes away from Daybreak is truly the best gift we've had in awhile here. My husband and I tried it for the first time last night and after having tried two other new ramen places in Daybreak/Riverton area this last weekend and being pretty disappointed, we didn't have any expectations after seeing another review on Facebook point out this place was pretty phenomenal- we decided to give it a shot. I knew the second the food came out that this place was going to be different- we got the Tuna/Salmon poke bowl, seafood ramen, the salmon and tuna hand roll, and gyoza and EVERYTHING was perfectly done, tasted great, was incredibly satisfying, and left a smile on our face. It's legit my new favorite poke bowl and everything else was done perfectly- reminds me a lot of San Francisco/California/Seattle style Asian bars, very very well done.
Having had Asian food all over the country in addition to being Chinese and eating at my parent's house every weekend, I attest that it's incredibly difficult to find good Asian cuisine in the SLC valley and this place is not only very authentic, fresh, fair in price and portions, but mostly incredibly delicious and satisfying.
They've done a great job with the place in addition to great service- I have no doubt this place will absolutely blow up over the next while as word gets out that they're in the area. They're new so it looks like they're not listed on Yelp yet (or maybe they are just electing to not be on Yelp)--- either way, word is going to get out that this place is here and they're going to be an incredibly popular restaurant. I hope they're able to maintain the quality once they become the next most popular place because it's their first week open and they already seemed pretty busy post 9 p.m. on a Saturday. I anticipate as more people find out about this place that it will minimally double in traffic. When you do food this good in West Jordan - there is no competition, I'd give this place a 10 star for being the best we have in South Valley for this style of Asian cuisine. Another mega plus is that they're open on SUNDAYS!!!! You can bet this will be a popping place to be on Sundays given there are not many places open on Sundays around here. I HIGHLY recommend ya'll check this place out- you're not going to be disappointed. This will definitely be a regular spot for us- took #1 fave Asian spot last night on our...
Read moreEdit since the staff and menu were changed in the past few months:
The staff are all inattentive, get orders wrong, play loud music in the back (negative on the atmosphere), and some are even rude. We come here several times a month, and the experience gets worse every time. We waited almost an hour for the teriyaki chicken and teriyaki beef to come out. While we were waiting the waiter never updated us. When we flagged him down after he rounded the table behind us, he didn't even look at us, said it was coming, then left with a very snide smirk. Our 2 year old girls had some of the fried chicken (which came fairly quickly) but by the time the teriyaki came, their order of chicken udon still wasn't ready, so we cancelled it and the kids didn't get to have a meal until we got home. To get the check we had to flag the waiter down again. The waiter only had 2 tables so it's not like he was slammed to explain the poor service. In the car the girls were sad and asking why their noodles never came. This was their favorite restaurant. Overall we've had very poor experiences the last few times we've gone. We would like to request contact from the owners please.
Old review from July or so: The staff are wonderful. They are really polite and attentive. I've tried many different dishes and never been disappointed. The flavor of every single dish has been awesome, and it's all been cooked well. The restaurant is really clean. They do a great job of maintaining the booths, bathrooms, and everything else. It's not super loud in the restaurant, and is always pleasant...
Read moreI really liked the ramen and loved the yakiudon. The yakisoba was just a bit more oily than I would have preferred, otherwise it was also fantastic. I really like that they use silken tofu in their soup instead of fried, extra-firm (fried tofu is also good, but this feels lighter and healthier). The takoyaki was nicely crisp on the outside, but felt a bit too mooshy inside and the ratio of breading to octopus was off (too much breading) - it's not how I remember them from being in Japan. That sounds like a negative review, but it's not; that's me being picky about little things. The food was all very good - so much so, that I've been back here like 5x in the last 3 weeks (which is why I was able to try several different things) and intend to go back again soon. One really cool thing is that you can get free refills on your noodles if you get the ramen. I've only done it once because they give you enough that, sure I could stuff more into me, but I'm perfectly content after finishing my 1 bowl. As a bonus, the chopsticks and napkins they provide are really very nice. They could skimp on these like most restaurants do and it would work fine, but the higher quality items make the experience feel nicer. Lunch is busier than dinner. I suspect one reason is because traffic on this road is awful during rush hour, making dinner-time a bit harder to get there. Not unreasonable, but plan a few extra minutes of that's when...
