Heavenly ramen, horrible manners. This place serves the best ramen on Purdue campus and is par with some of the famous ramen places I have been to in Chicago, New York and Boston. The food is easily customizable and the staff is willing to do so as well. The ambience is just great and the place is never overcrowded. The only problem is after a great dinner filled with great conversations with your family, the server comes with a check and asks for 18% or more tip because it was a table of 5. This is fine, since we have a practice of giving similar tip where we enjoy food. I was paying for the whole family, because I was proud of this place and I didn't want them to know how much the whole experience costs. But the server...ah..Server announced loudly, "So with 18% tip, the total comes to $ 94.55." To this day, I don't understand, why they had to announce the tip % and the total like that. I was not planning to look at the total and make a run for the door. In the best of the restaurants, they always pass the check discreetly to the person who is paying. I was there with my family paying for everyone, which should give a hint that the total doesn't need to be announced. So, I hope that Strings doesn't do this anyone else. As for me, I am...

This place is nasty and disgusting they never clean the dishes the customers eat out of, they don’t even clean the pots and pans they use to cook with, they rinse the dish off and serve the next customer with those same dishes. the food is horrible and my experience here was pitiful the cooks are very rude! even the boss ! they don’t care about improving there staff or restaurant and if you are new they will treat you like an outcast also if your not there race don’t bother working for them because they will never understand you and because they have been there longer whatever they say is what is right so make sure to keep your opinions about your work area to yourself or you will be terminated because they can’t take constructive criticism! They only care about how the cooks feel because they need them the most to cook while they are unsanitary and uses the rags they wipe the counter tops with to wipe your food into your bowl !! I wish I could give...

This ramen chain serves up some consistently tasty ramen dishes. They have a small and focused menu that is essentially just Ramen. The Tonkotsu is a pork broth ramen, while the Miso has a base just like the Miso soup you get from Japanese restaurants. The Hell Ramen is the spicy stuff. Once you get to level 4+, you'd better ready your body and mind - as this stuff is no joke (and I'm a chili head of sorts).

I had the Spicy Clam and Pork ramen and the Kuro Buta Miso ramen and a few other dishes. You can't go wrong.

Except for the Hell Ramen. The Level 5 tastes like they gathered a bunch of chemicals from the shelf in their garage and dumped them into a pot with some noodles. It's not only spicy, but it's also gag inducing. I don't know how it's possible to complete their Hell Ramen challenge.

I think the ramen from Yatagarasu right down the street is a bit better, but this place is a...

Service was quick and friendly, and menu was typical offerings and pricing for a ramen shop. Chicken karaage was well seasoned and crispy, tonkotsu broth was savory, noodles were interesting flavor/texture. Kuro Buta Chashu was really delicious and generous portion for a side of it at only $6.95. With extra noodles only $2.55, I was able to share one order of ramen with my son. One thing to keep in mind - groups of 5+ can only pay with 1 check/form of pmt and 18% gratuity is auto added. While the gratuity is reasonable, I usually tip 20% or more, so when restaurants do this, it cuts the waiter short just a bit.
