I had the loaded tots, which were delicious. The food came out with great haste and I was enjoying the bacon and jalapeño slathered goodness before I knew it. Though this small act of service meant a great deal to me, although this is when the night took a dark turn. The delicious tots that Evan brought me so quickly were so hot and fresh that I accidentally choked on a jalapeño slice. As the sliver of capsaicin filled goodness blocked my airways, sending waves of searing spice into my sinuses, a hero dawned his cape from the shadows. Evan, the true holy avenger of the night, bravely dislodge the scrumptious pickled pepper piece from my airway before any harm could be done. As if that weren't heroic enough, Evan's act of superior service didn't end there. The piece of jalapeño flew across the room. Motion slowed down as the green spice grenade spiraled through the air, until it finally ended it's grand joy ride by smacking into a glass of Coca-Cola (filled generously to the brim of course). Now, how is this a positive thing? Surely this is just a mess to be cleaned up? No. That's foolish of you to think that Evan would EVER create a mess without good reason. The Coca-Cola spilled to the floor, where an elderly woman's blind diabetic dog was nearing a diabetic episode. The Coca-Cola dripped into the geriatric Jack Russell's mouth just in time to save his pancreas from panicking. Evan's service went unheard that day. Like a true hero, he thanklessly performed his duty (and went above and beyond in doing so), then stoicly returned to his many other needy tables. I think it goes without saying, but Evan changed my...
Read moreI placed a to-go order using chownow from The Tap today, 6/4/22, after a great dine-in meal the night before. I ordered the kickin bourbon bbq wings online. However, I received buffalo. I showed the manager, Matt, the receipt for my order. Matt was rude and didn’t really won’t to replace my food with the correct order. I was told that I would have to wait another 20 minutes for my food after waiting an initial 45 minutes. I asked will my food be discounted. He told me they don’t do discounts. I asked for a refund and Matt told me I had to take it up with chownow. I asked so you don’t offer customers anything complimentary for wasting their time. Obviously I was short on time because I ordered online. The treatment I received today was unacceptable and I will not be back. I owned my own restaurant here in Lafayette and if Matt had treated my customer(a) they way he did me, he would be immediately disciplined on his treatment of customers and maybe even fired. Instead of providing the best customer service possible, he asked me for my name. I asked him why he wanted my name and he said in case he received any complaints he can put a face with a name. He needs to go through customer service training again. My waitress, Mary, from last night had more knowledge of customer service than her manager Matt. She offered me a drink of water as I waited for food I now do not even want. Mary was kind and provided excellent customer service the night before and today. I wish Mary the best as she is working for an...
Read moreMy daughter and I had a chance to visit The Tap on South Chauncey in West Lafayette this weekend and I was NOT disappointed. The Tap list at this list is incredible! They have anything that you would want to choose from, 100? beers on tap. Thats insane.
We arrived after a late Basketball game and so it was 11pm and about an hour before closing. Despite that they had the full kitchen open and a full dining room. I enjoyed the beer-hall type atmosphere.
We ordered two appetizers, the Buffalo Cauliflower and Curds and the Firecracker Shrimp. Unfortunately, the Firecracker Shrimp was not as good as my daughter has experienced in the past. She loves this dish and gets it whenever she goes here but this time it was not very good. The Curds and Cauliflower was good but had very little buffalo sauce. The Curds had a really great breading and flavor even though the cheese was a but chewy. It is really hard to find that balance in a cheese curd with the type of cheese and the breading/flavoring in the coating. I would definitely try both of these dishes again.
As we were finishing up (15 till midnight or so) an amazing looking pizza walked by us to a different table. Oh Mama! I need to try...
