We went there for my husband’s birthday dinner. I am a Chinese so I always in the mood for some authentic Chinese food, and my husband loves Chinese food, so we were quite excited about it. Well, it was not a pleasant experience, at all. First of all you just can’t enjoy it when dining in a 80-degree AC free restaurant. No ice water, no iced drink whatsoever, food was served really fast, but the taste was salty and oily..... we ordered 8 dishes, a pretty wide variety, but all were dry, salty, and oily. As a Chinese I feel obligated to tell you that good Chinese food does not taste like that. What’s worse than their food? Their service. The servers dropped the dish on the table, then they just disappeared, throughout the whole time no one bothered to ask what we would like to drink, they give us room temperature water but no one filled our drink, no one asked how do we like the food, no one checked on us at all. AND they had the nerve to mandate a 20% gratuity. No! That’s not ok, no service, then no tip. Three words to sum up my experience there at the Taste: hot,...
Read moreJust ordered some beef fried rice with a dozen bone-in chicken wings. The wings came with curry sauce and I had that on the side. Let's start with the wings. They were ok. The Curry sauce was ok too. Though a little under seasoned. The fried rice with egg and veggies were ok as well. But again seriously under seasoned. It was very bland. Now let's get to the alleged beef. I can't say for certain that this is or isn't some kind of laboratory imitation beef but it's very very odd. It's very rubbery and very flavorless as if it was pickled in water or something for a length of time. It does have what looks to be muscle lines in the meat but something about it is just off. This is not the first time I've run into this questionable beef situation from a Chinese restaurant but it has been a while. I swear I could buy the cheapest cut of beef, fry it up but could never be able to get it anywhere close to the artificial like, rubbery, flavorless consistently like this stuff. I picked it out and threw it away. Whatever you guys are using here, stop it! Your customers...
Read moreI couldn't say it's the best restaurant I've ever seen, but it's definitely the best one in Indiana till now. The foods are really delicious, and it's not expensive comparing to other Chinese restaurants.
You could see waves of people lining for the food during 6-8, yet they just don't want to leave as they know people who wait deserve the best food.
I've seen enjoyable faces and smiling faces in this restaurant, with no relationship to their nationalities. The manager and boss always give free foods to people who have a ceremony or have waited for too long. No restaurant is perfect, but this one has done it's best working towards perfection.
The only reason I could see one stars here is that there are also lots of other restaurants here in Lafayette area, and their employees don't want to lose their customers, as people always wish to have better foods for the same or lower price....
