Dear Reader, As a Taco Deli frequenter I was looking forward to my lunch on Tuesday May 14 @ 1:40pm. My loving coworker offered to retrieve my online order for me and brought it back to me. Once I received my bag I realized I was missing my small queso and upon inquiring with my colleague we realized it was never in the bag to begin with. I decided to drive over to retrieve the missing queso from the order I already paid for. Once I arrived I was not greeted by a single worker, and when I went to the counter I was immediately put off. I shared what happened with the worker with my receipt and the bag of tacos (uneaten) and his first response was "Well how did you do that?" and I shared that someone else picked up the original order and his reply was "We always put it in the bag" and I said unnerved "I am sorry it was not in there and we checked the other bags as well". During this entire encounter I noticed the small queso was left on the counter behind the worker. After finally convincing the individual that I was not lying he turned around to one of the other Taco Deli workers and began to complain about me. At this point I was feeling humiliated because of what I was being accused of and how I was treated. The worker finally bagged up my queso and handed the bag to me without saying anything, I said thank you and he just turned around and walked away. My tacos were fine, not prepared in the standard way I have received before and my queso was now cold. While he was preparing my paid small queso I noticed he was not in serve safe attire, wearing ankle socks with croc shoes. And the server of dine in meals was also wearing crocs and pajamas. In the past I have enjoyed going to Taco Deli and consuming their yummy tacos, however this experience has deterred me from...

Because this TacoDeli location is close to where I work, I tend to go here all the time. The tacos here are absolutely phenomenal. I am constantly craving them because they have so many different options and everything I have tried thus far has been well worth my money. I am a big fan of breakfast tacos so I love the build your own option that they offer during the morning hours because I can be a picky eater. I also really like their menu options however and never had a problem just throwing out an order name and downing whatever I get. The place also has amazing lunch options as well. I would recommend the Frontera Fundido Sirloin or the Akaushi Picadillo if you don't know what to order or where to start. I could eat those all day long HAHA. The place is also always really busy but the staff is efficient and they know how to keep their restaurant clean! The only "complaint," not really a complaint, that I would have is that they use some incredibly strong onions. Your breath, burps, and anything else coming out of your mouth will smell and taste like onion all day. I am pretty sure I had to mouthwash twice just to get rid of the taste and smell. So just be weary about the tacos with onions in them, cause I love onion and that was still a little too...

I use to love their tacos. But today i stopped in for lunch. Waited in a really short line and sat waiting for over 25 minutes for 2 tacos. I don't know why. When i finally recieved my tacos the tortilla was cold. The foil was cold and the meat hardly room temp... i expected the old taco deli that had beautifully crafted tacos fresh and piping hot. Ive had wayyyyy better gas station tacos than these barley thought through tacos. I was simply just saddened. Taco deli.. oh what use to be...

Edit: i stopped in again by the off chance i was just there on a day day when the managers or staff just had it with volume or a large catering event they had...i was wrong... the same thing happened i waited longer than i should have for my tacos. They came wrapped tightly with cold tortillas and cold meat and veggies...seriously trust me when i say that there are gas stations in west lake a rolling wood hills that have tacos 100% better with piping hot tortillas and hot protein. For half or less of the prices that tacodeli tries to get by with. Please do better i use to love taco deli,...

Oh how to describe the wonders of TacoDeli? For one thing, they greatly respect beef - their picadillo is divine, and so is the cowboy taco, with tender pieces of filet - oh my word. The salsa is unquestionably Austin's finest, as are the creamy black beans, which are vegan. I want the secret to those beans SO desperately!! They are great with food allergies as well. The Westlake location is airy and bright, with twice as much outdoor seating as indoor. My faves are: The Freakin' Vegan and the Otto for breakfast, and the PIcadillo and the Cowboy for lunch. The biggest kept secret is that their coffee - a proprietary roast - is the best in town - don't miss it. As of 2019, they started selling the beans at the store. Service is classic old school Austin - kind, laid back and friendly. This location and the one on Duval are my faves. I have retreats twice a year and I bring EVERYONE here at least once before they go home. Including their pets!

An original Austin breakfast Taco One of the first home grown taco spots in Austin. They make great tasting tacos with a nice variety of options. They use good quality sirloin and the eggs are nice and fluffy. What sets taco deli apart from others are their sauces. You can go from mild to really hot. The habanero sauce is very spicy to the point that it can kill your taste buds all the way down to tomatillo which is about as mild as you can get. The sauces are made in house and are of high quality. My favorite is the Dona, as it's spicy but not so much that you can't taste the tacos. This location has a generous outdoor bench seating area under a large oak tree. Nice for a family outing. If you're looking for an Austin experience, this is it. I'd also recommend the original location off spyglass drive.

I used to eat here 3 to 4 times a week, but they've lost their way. The tacos taste great, but each time I come here, they get smaller and more pathetic. You can tell the store no longer cares anymore about delivering a quality product and are simply living off their reputation. Look at this sad $5.00 taco here... If this were two dollars, I'd understand. I had to write a review because they are consistently disappointing. You'll get two tacos, pay about $10.00 and feel like you've eaten less than one. If you don't mind over paying for micro-tacos, this place is great. For me, I'm not the type of person to ask for a refund or a replacement, I'm just gonna stop going. Too bad.
