Izumi Sushi — Restaurant in West Lake Hills

TRUST ME READ THIS REVIEW PEOPLE! PRETTY SURE THIS PLACE HAS ROACHES!! I looked at many pictures of bugs and it looks like a oriental nymph cockroach. When we pointed the bug out the kept trying to tell us that it wasnt a bug while trying to rip the soup spoon out of my hand.

To start off we went for the AYCE sushi. We showed up and hour and 15 minutes before lunch was over and they told us we would only have thirty minutes to eat all of the sushi if we did. I felt like the website and what I was told was wrong before coming here. So we decided to get regular lunch since I have been planning to come here on our trip for awhile. The Sushi was absolute trash. Save your money. Very very pourly made. It was falling apart. Mainly rice. Not really any filling in it. Imagine if they were to just smear the skin of an avacado on this thing. My son got the Terriyaki Bento. The chicken was so dry that it tasted like a 3 day old chicken nugget dipped in teriyaki water. It had no flavor. The wore part is that his soup had bugs in it and they were all at the bottom. So he ate the bowl of soup. And saw the bugs. Didnt want anymore. YOU ALL I HAVE NEVER SEEN A COCKROACH BEFORE AND I THINK THIS WAS A LITTLE JUST BEGINNING ONE! My four year old was gagging on what he had ate over the thought of it all. We left the restaurant and he threw it all up on the side of the road because he felt so disguised. HUGE WASTE OF MONEY! JUST AVOID THIS PLACE! If i could give zero stars...

I get lunch from this place pretty regularly (at least twice a week). I love the Lunch Special: Roll Mania B Combo (double Crunchy California rolls for me!). I really love the flavors they combine and everything is always so fresh! I usually order online as soon as they open at 11 am for my lunch (if you order at 11 then you can pick up at 12- they are usually really really busy every time i have ever been there so I can see how it can take awhile to prepare &parking in that shopping center is pretty hectic! - I always ask for extra ginger & lemon slices in my special notes section on the to go order & am always thrilled to see they read it & accommodate me with no extra charge [its the small things (: ] I really enjoy Izumi's! All of the hostess's are really polite and always on top of the To-Go orders/ Pick-up orders/Welcoming people in the door, even when it looks like complete chaos in that tiny restaurant. Hubs and I were in an unfamiliar area an hour away from home and needed a late lunch. So glad to have found Izumi! Hubs says best sushi since we moved in 2019 What they did with the flavors had us wanting to order more even though we were full Nigiri Medley was so fresh and flavors were distinct and well played I loved the Westlake Hill Roll with its cucumber wrap. Didn’t use soy bc the sauce they used was perfect The Mint Tree literally made me moan with happiness. The crab was freshly fried, the roll tight even with the various ingredients, and they worked so well together! Our hands down, have to come back, need to recommend to others roll was the Tropical Breeze Roll. Hubs doesn’t usually do mango in his sushi but he made sure he got half of this roll!! So amazing.
