Bad experience this morning. Gal at the register was friendly and helpful that’s why I’m giving 2 stars. Ordered 2 coffees and 2 breakfast items. First, my girlfriends coffee order is wrong. So the barista takes the coffee back and says I’ll make the right thing. He should’ve just given her the coffee while he remakes the correct order (they’re going to throw it away anyway). So my girlfriend to not be an inconvenience just said it’s ok just give me that one to which he says ok cool. Not even a thank you or a sorry about that, but whatever I can live with that. So she goes outside to find a table and I wait for our food inside. Literally at least 20 mins I’m standing there waiting for food. Took forever and I’m not sure why because everyone was getting their food was so quickly, but I just waited. Then the order finally comes and the lady from the back thanks me for my patience so I’m assuming maybe something went wrong back there to which I said no problem. I go outside and see that my food order is now incorrect... I worked in restaurants for so long and I think that’s why I have so much patience with folks in the food industry, BUT if you’re going to take forever, make sure the order is perfect! If the customer waits a long time might as well make them wait an extra 60 seconds to make sure the order is perfect... so I take a deep breathe and go inside and tell them and they correct it. My girlfriends coffee that she politely took literally just tasted like warm almond milk and no coffee it was supposed to be a latte. Then almost halfway into my food the wind blew my entire order and food into the street. Catalyst for me I guess it’s just not meant for me to be here. Won’t be back as my go to is St. Honoré in LO, but we wanted to try a new spot today. $31 for this experience and I tipped good.. this is why I don’t like this new era of having to tip at the register before your order is...
Read moreMixed bag. Positives -- The food was reasonably good and the coffee was not objectionable. Negatives -- they ask you to tip between 15% and 25% but a) require you to stand in line to order; b) ask you to bus your own dishes; c) leave you to search for milk for coffee, and for forks, spoons and condiments without help; d) leave old food on the table, and on the floor by the table; and, e) have a very unfriendly, almost disdainful attitude. It seems likely that the dirty tables were the result of requiring patrons to bus their own dishes, or perhaps it was due to the sheer arrogance of the paying and tipping customers who, having bussed their own dishes, displayed their egotistical belief in their own self importance by totally failing to bring with them, or to search out, a dish cloth to wipe the table they had sullied.
I really have nothing against ordering at the counter, or bussing my own dishes. Indeed I often bus my own dishes even when it is not expected or requested. But it is extremely objectionable to ask for a large tip, to have a bad attitude, and then require me to bus my dishes. And if customers do bus their own dishes, it is of course essential that the table is cleaned as soon...

They earned this by A) using beans from one of the top coffee roasters in Portland, Coava Coffee, and they're the only coffeeshop I've found in the area not serving bottom shelf beans. The barista was skilled and made a perfect latte, and for the first time in a while I felt like I received a top quality drink worth the price I paid for it...which was reasonably priced with the current market but so much better than other shops in the area.
B) by providing absolutely wonderful service with a team that had a positive and welcoming attitude that was warm and approachable with good, honest, and appropriate recommendations when it came to baked snacks. All the pastries look delicious but I settled on an afternoon cookie which was spot on. They even warmed it for me. In a subsequent visit I tried the coffee cake which was fantastic.
It's such a relief with a new sense of excitement to have finally discovered a great coffeeshop for this area.
It's also super conveniently located right off the interstate for those passing by.
Keep up...
