Placed an order at 6:41pm tonight, as we needed to feed 3 hungry kids coming home from activities. The order total was $170 and we pre-paid and promised a ready time of 7:20pm. We have never ordered from this restaurant before and usually go to Oki (which is closed for a few months, sadly) or Bamboo.
By 820pm, our order was still not ready. That is when I started calling the restaurant. I started talking to the gentelman who answered, and as soon as I said the words "...it has been two hours", he started pretending that he could not hear me, and disconnected the call.
Okay, maybe something is wrong on my side? I called back. As soon as he heard my voice, he hung up.
Something is really wrong here. I try calling from the home phone, and the same gentleman picks up. I say "hey, I just called a few minutes ago...." and he says "Oh sorry can't hear you" and hangs up AGAIN.
Alright, so apparently my phone is working just fine. I ask one of our kids to try. She gets through. She starts speaking to the gentleman but she pretends that she knows him. He starts chatting with her and then says "Sorry, who is this?" and she responds with "Well, my Mom has been trying to call you to find out where our order is, can you help with that?"
The guy HANGS UP. So my husband drives over there, and the place is packed. The person who greeted him explained that they were slammed. He explains the situation, and the woman furrows her brow and says "I am sorry you will have to reach out to Uber Eats". What??? Could you maybe...give us the food we paid for? No, they stonewalled him and said they cannot help him.
Our first near-experience with this place, and we won't be visiting, ever. Repulsive way to treat folks. Who pretends that they "can't hear someone" when they call? Second grade called, they want their...
Read moreGot here around 7pm. There was one person waiting on an order. Told we can sit anywhere we picked a table. Didn’t realize it wasn’t prepped but we figured it would be okay because the waiting staff would get us some chopsticks and napkins. The menu was really sticky and felt unclean. We looked over the menu waiting on the server to bring us some water and welcome us. But no one came by. From what we could tell there was one server and one cook. We looked over the menu and waited for about 10 to 15 mins for someone to come by. The server came to our table with no napkins no chop sticks and no water. We ordered 4 rolls and 3 appetizers plus 2 sides of spicy mayo and some sodas. Then one appetizer came after about 5 mins. We had to take the chopsticks from the table next to us because no one got us any. Then the other app came. Then sushi. But we only received 3 rolls instead of 4 like we asked, then the last app came. Before we could ask for napkins or about the 4th roll the server walked away. And there was never any extra spicy mayo. We ate our food. Not once were we checked on or asked if we needed refills. I have always loved coming to momjis but I have always gone to the Salem locations. This was a true disappointment, probably won’t be coming back to...
Read moreWe wanted to like this local (to us) place but were pretty disappointed. The lack of other customers should have been an omen, but I was swayed by the relatively high Google rating. First, it is not a good value. For what we spent, the sushi rolls had little fish in them (and were not particularly well rolled). The two nigiri orders had enough fish. But (second) I questioned whether or not I was actually eating yellowtail because a strong fishy taste. I've never had yellowtail taste like that, and the pieces also look a little different from other yellowtail. So either not yellowtail or relatively low quality yellowtail; either possibility is not good. Finally, the bathroom was a mess. Nice enough staff, but if I'm going to spend that much money, there are better options for sushi and...
