La Cantina Mexican Grill — Restaurant in West Orange

Used to love to eat here, .. until tonight!! My husband ordered a fish/shrimp combo and instead of fries he wanted a chalupa! He told the waiter no lettuce and then I repeated no lettuce on the chalupa! When the good came there was lettuce so I politely told the waiter were said no lettuce! The waiter then went to the computer and told me it was gonna cost me an extra $4 to have the chalupa made with no lettuce because we didn't say that! I replied with yes we both told you no lettuce and as a response got an argument of how wrong we were! He then turned to a co worker and started speaking in Spanish which is when my husband got very angry! He then asked him he was talking crap and why he couldn't just fix the chalupa? He continued to speak to his co worker and my husband (who wasn't very happy nor friendly at this point) got up cussing and went outside! I told the guy to just give me my check and a to go box for the food! I had just ordered my second margarita with one sip (literally) taken and he still put that on my ticket to! I have been a waitress for 16 years and no what he did was wrong! Even if we hadn't said ,"no lettuce" you don't Argue back and forth with a customer and then turn to soak to your co worker like he did!! Very dissatisfying experience.. WILL NOT...

I took my family and a few other relatives here to eat for my son’s birthday. The food was good. The service was decent. However, my son forgot his birthday cards (with money inside) when we left. I went back to see if anyone had seen them or turned them in.I wasn’t expecting the money to be there , but I was hoping that at least the cards had been found. When I arrived, one of the waiters that worked our table saw me, and now , all of a sudden, he doesn’t speak e nough English to understand me. I was sent to another employee who in turn called the manager on duty to speak with me. While I’m waiting, I saw the main waiter that worked our table. Last night at dinner, he said his name was “Juan”, today, he had on a name tag that read, “Jose”, and all of a sudden, he too, couldn’t understand anything I was saying to him. The manager came and gave me the runaround, saying that the waiter who served us last night was off today. When I said” I just saw him, does he have a twin or something?” He nervously replied, “ Yes”. Then he pretended to call “ Juan”, but he didn’t answer. ( Go figure!) I gave him a piece of my mind and told him that it’s mighty low to steal a kid’s ...

We showed up. We set for 30 minutes before anyone ever came to ask for anything. Finally took our drink order. Waited another 15 minutes before they finally came and took my regular order. It took almost 45 minutes to get our food was absolutely disgusting. The employees thought they were slick speaking spanish except I speak spanish and they were Talking bad about all of the customers in the restaurant saying they hated to serve all the white people they were running to the bar. They pretty much staying in the bar area, so as not to deal with the other customers. When I told them the food was disgusting and I didn't want to pay for one of the meals. They tried to argue with me. Then he tried to add a $35 tip to my bill, saying it was mandatory, which I refused and told him I would call the police before he finally took it off my bill.
