This was my second time at Kitchen and had an unfortunate enough experience to feel the need to review. This is the first time I can think of that I've eaten at a restaurant where I was made to feel unwelcomed, like they didn't want me there.
When asked what she would recommend, our server went on about how shed tried everything and could help us, but then didn't. When asked again, she said she would make suggestions once we ordered drinks. When we said we wanted to choose our food first to pair a suitable wine with our entrees, and so would like a recommendation, she said she had to go check on another table.
We never got an answer for what she would recommend, so made our own way on the food and wine. Not a terrible ordeal in and of itself. But to add insult to injury, the table next to us asked the same question and she breezily listed some favorites for them. Later in the evening a different server came over to check on us after realizing we hadn't been attended to for a long time.
Another disappointing surprise is that the veal entree special we ordered came out to $75. Not the end of the world. But the most expensive regular menu item was around $52, so when the special was described and no price given, I expected it would be in the same ballpark as their steaks, not 50% more expensive. Again, not the end of the world, just an unwelcome surprise that wasn't helped by the subpar service - with a price like that you expect a fine meal and a great experience. It did taste very good, at least. My girlfriend's meatloaf dish was good, though somewhat light on flavor.
A final knock on the restaurant is that you're really stuffed into a small space. Eating outside looked beautiful. But inside we were sandwiched within a few inches of the tables on either side. To one side was another nice young couple, who received the favored treatment of our server. On the other were two older couples yelling very loudly. It would have been a lot if they were a regular distance apart, but given they were practically on top of us, by the fourth iteration of "you REALLY don't remember I was at your wedding" I was over it.
In short: the food was good, though not good enough to warrant the price. We were generally dismissed and later ignored by our server. And the ambiance was disruptive without being pleasantly lively.
A shame that this experience was so much worse than when I've...
Read moreWe came for dinner on a Thursday, it was not busy. They also had a three course meal option and half price wine bottles. The staff were courteous and helpful, and gave us great suggestions. The venue has indoor and outdoor sitting. It's quiet and has a relaxed atmosphere.
We ordered a bottle of wine and chose the three course option. For apperizers we ordered the Kitchen salad and the crispy cheese-steak spring rolls. The rolls were awesome and the salad was crisp and refreshing. For the mains we ordered the everything crusted salmon amd the fettuccine bolagnese. The bolagnese sauce was delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the everything crust gave it a nice flavor and crunch. For dessert, we ordered the coconut cake, a must, and the chocolate brownie.
Kitchen offers amazing food, incredible service by the staff, and a nice atmosphere. We are definitely coming here more often and...
Read moreI will limit this review to my experience and my wife’s but not comment on our friends meal. We have some food allergy and sensitivity issues. The waitress was aware of them but after everyone had appetizers she came back to the table and had to offer my wife another dish which led to her being served after everyone else. My burger was completely overcooked so I too had to wait for another plate. This time the burger was cooked well but had no flavor and the fries were cold. The waitress was nice enough to remove it from the bill and offered us a free piece of coconut cake. She then left without asking if anyone wanted coffee, tea, or any other desert or beverage. For the price a rather poor value. Altogether a very strange experience which did not meet...
