The place was a bit busier then you'd think for a Wednesday night but there was enough parking and table available. Would not recommend bringing an oversized vehicle because the spaces are definitely made for compact cars and small SUVs. We were seated immediately, but told that there are no waiters. You have to order from the online QR code and the food is brought to your table. After we placed the order, about 3 minutes later, the 2 entrees and 2 sides were brought to our table (a little too quick for "fresh" meals). Everything was room temperature or cold except the center of the pulled pork on the French fries, which was burning hot.
BRISKET SANDWICH: Meat was so soft, like butter to bite into. The rest of the sandwich was good (pickles, french onions, sauce); Probably the only thing I'd recommend.
PIG BEACH BURGER (Single): Tasted closer to a Dave's Single from Wendy's then a BBQ restaurants signature burger. But the patty did melt in your mouth.
FRENCH FRIES (ADDED CHEESE & PULLED PORK): Portion size was HUGE for a side. Fries were boring and unseasoned. The cheese was just plain nacho cheese sauce. The pulled pork was smokey, seasoned, soft, tender, but a little fatty.
CORNBREAD: Buttery, pretty good, but also nothing special. Also, When I opened the little container of prepackaged butter to put on my cornbread, it was discolored, separated and chunky, which ruined my appetite.
After all that, one of the staff came over to ask about our food. I let them know the butter was separated and the food was cold. They brought me a new piece of cornbread and butter which was kind. They kept saying that I should've told them that before we ate our food so they could've made it right... But we had no waiter and no one checked on us the ENTIRE time we were eating... So who was I supposed to tell?
Overall: I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again, nor would I recommend this place, unless it's JUST...
Read moreWe tried Pig Beach today for the first time. Not the best experience we've had at a restaurant. The place has a great vibe, and seems more like a sports bar than a BBQ place. There was a very large party in the back of the restaurant that was quite loud. The person working the front wanted to keep seating patrons in this area. Several of us moved due to the noise. This seemed to go unnoticed as she continued to seat people in the area who continued to move.
You order through a QR code through Toasttab. This was frustrating and the website seemed to be glitching a bit. We noticed several tables of customers around us struggling with their phones, the app, and general technology of the whole ordeal. There were plenty of workers in the restaurant, and it was baffling that no one would just take an order. After figuring it out, the drinks from the bar came quickly as did the food. The descriptions of the food did not accurately describe what you get with the order, and everything is al a carte. No one seemed available to answer questions.
We got the sampler platter, which had a nice variety for two of us. However, the food was just barely warm. Nothing had a smoked flavor to it! Not one bit. The brisket was very tender and juicy. The turkey was relatively bland, the pulled pork was juicy and flavorful, as were the ribs. The collards were outstanding, and the baked beans were not great. Our meal came out to just over $85 for the platter, three sides, and two beers. Of course, you pay through the app, which starts with a 22% tip. Not sure who the tip is going to... there were several food runners but no actual service from them. No one checked on us throughout the meal.
I'm not sure we will be back. Parking was also a challenge. It was crowded, the parking spaces seem...
