Worst restaurant experience of my life. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would.
I came here with six friends and everything was a disaster from the start. They only gave us ONE physical menu for the entire table, told us the online menu prices weren’t accurate, and then dropped the bomb that they force a 22% gratuity no matter how bad the service is.
Drinks? Served warm, almost no ice, and the glasses weren’t even clean. Absolutely disgusting.
Food? The only thing worth eating was my Rockero Roll, which was actually good, but that doesn’t change the fact that the rest of the experience was atrocious.
Service? Nonexistent. The server disappeared after dropping off the food and we had to pay through some QR code system. Here’s where it gets shady: the system charged the mandatory 22% gratuity, then sneakily added another 20% tip plus a “Sunday” service fee. That’s a 42% rip-off in gratuities and fees.
When we confronted them, the server called it a “mistake.” Then a so-called brand manager, Miriam Sanchez, told us to pay again and promised a refund for the first charge. We wasted over two hours waiting, and of course, no refund ever came. It’s been days, and after multiple emails and calls, Miriam never answered. When we finally reached the restaurant, they gave us nothing but excuses.
This place is a scam. Dirty glasses, pathetic service, and fraudulent billing practices. They stole my money and wasted my time. Do yourself a favor and stay far away...
Read moreI just wanted to share our recent experience at Pubbelly Sushi, and unfortunately, it really wasn’t a good one. We live near downtown and love trying new places, so we were excited to give this a shot. We ordered takeout and were willing to pay a premium to see what the hype was about. But once we got home, it was just a series of letdowns.
The ceviche was warm and the fish looked gray, which is a red flag for freshness. The pork belly gyoza was tough and tasted like it had been microwaved after sitting around. The dragon roll was mostly imitation crab that tasted off and overpowered everything—it made the entire roll unpleasant. The fried rice, which we had specifically asked to be customized, ended up with random pineapple tossed in that wasn’t even listed on the menu.
The real kicker was the manager’s response when I called about a refund. He first asked us to bring the food back, but when I agreed, he backtracked and made me feel like I was in the wrong for even asking. He implied I was trying to get a free meal and told me something along the lines of, “Well, if you come back next time, this won’t happen again,” as if I was just looking for handouts. We spent nearly $89 on food that ended up in the trash, and I still haven’t seen a refund or any real resolution.
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. For the price point, I expected far better quality and customer service. I can’t recommend Pubbelly Sushi and won’t...
Read moreThis place serves low quality sushi at outrageous prices, and on top of that, they try to scam you with an automatic extra tip trick. Honestly, the $5 Publix sushi one block away is better.
I visited in the evening when the restaurant wasn't crowded (only 5–6 tables occupied). I ordered three sushi rolls: avocado salmon, shrimp tempura, and one of their signature rolls.
Avocado Salmon Roll: The rice was undercooked and definitely not sushi grade.
Shrimp Tempura Roll: The rice tasted old and cold, like it had just come out of the fridge. The shrimp were hot, which made it obvious they just microwaved a couple of shrimp and threw them into stale sushi rice.
Signature Roll: Hard to describe, but it just didn't taste right at all.
I have been to Japan before and sushi is one of my favorite foods. I am not a professional sushi critic, but I can confidently say this was some of the worst sushi I have had in a long time.
For these three rolls, I was charged $60. On top of that, the restaurant already adds a 20% service charge, but their payment system automatically suggests (and nearly tricks you into adding) another 20% tip unless you manually...
