The food was good.
My friend recommended we try their General Tso's Chicken, so we did. It was cooked the way it's supposed to be cooked and made it to us CRUNCHY, with the sweet and spicy sauce that was to be expected. (Many other places , don't make it as crunchy and I don't understand why) but theirs was cooked perfectly. The sauce was just ok.
The fried rice was also good and had a great texture, but did seem to be missing something that most other Chinese restaurants have in theirs, maybe egg, maybe more vegetables or bean sprouts, but it seemed very plain. It didn't taste bad, it was just different and it could have used a little more something.
The beef teriyaki was very good. It was a little dry, but it was still VERY good.
I also bought chicken chop suey. It was EXCELLENT! They included the crunchy noodles (without me having to ask) and the white rice was cooked perfect as well. And they didn't short us on the white rice, it was packed perfect.
___For some reason that seems to be the thing at a lot of Chinese restaurants, were they pack the rice very loosely.
I'm not sure if I'll return here, but probably not, because we found metal strips in our food. Like some sort of scrubbing type of metal. I'm sure it was something they used to clean the pans, utensils, or stove, but this wasn't good.
I was going to bring it back to the restaurant to show them, but my son put it in his pocket and lost it. 🤦🏼♀️
If it hadn't been for the metal in the food, I would have definitely...
Read moreThe Food:. The food is average to a over average. To he honest I am not satisfied with any of the places in West Springfield. I would say North Garden is a little better. Golden Peacock in Westfield is far superior.
Cleanliness: Below average. While I am sure that the staff does what they can to keep things sanitary, the decades of frying food in the kitchen have worn out the ceiling tiles and walls tainting them with a yellow hue. The owners should invest a little money and replace them. Also, hiring a professional kitchen cleaning service twice a year would make a huge difference in the apperence. Also, owners should remove the fish tank which always has an algae problem because it's too small for the fish that are in it.
The Staff/Owners: This place is run by the owners who spend 12+ hours a day in this restaurant. Given that they are open every day, this shows commitment to work. The owners are also very nice people and put their customers first.
This is my restaurant of choice for West Springfield. While the food is only mediocre, I like giving my money to people that work hard for...
Read moreCalled in on New Years Eve, I ordered 2 meals and was given a time frame of 40mins, not bad for this day seeing all other places I called was over an hour and a half. After 40mins I showed up to pick up my food. When I went in there were over a dozen people waiting for food as well. I was asked my name at least 5 times and have to wait in the restaurant for a total of 2 hrs. What really upset me is that there were wall ins that ordered and got their food before others. I us New Joy Way for lunches at work as do my co workers as well as my Chinese food spot. All that has now changed after tonight's experience. Not only was the service horrible but the food was the worst food I...
