Majestic Theater — Attraction in West Springfield

We were part of a group that attended this play. Of course, the original movie was not a musical, but a comedy and the difference is considerable. The actors literally sang back to back numbers, nothing from the original movie and frankly, it grew tedious because of the repetition. In fact, the "9 to 5" song staged by the actors, was just too much. I couldn't wait for it to end. Other songs were just not up to par. Some actors seemed to scream their singing, and the performances in general, were very uneven. The theater consists of stacking chairs side to side and crowded. Oh, and by the way, no snacks or drinks could be taken into the theater. Instead, the patrons had to consume all of their snacks and/or beverages in the lobby. It just wasn't a good experience. The three main characters were awkward and seemed to be competing for attention, especially the actor who played Violet. Just...

My wife, 13yr old and 23month old toddler just left the school of rock show today 8/9/22, having been removed, due to my dancing singing toddler daughter not keeping her mask on. The commonwealth of MA states clearly that 2yr olds and under are not required to wear a mask. Shame on you for giving our daughter, what would have had an amazing first experience of theatre a complete and totally horrible experience. The 28-30 people in the theater all noticed her and were cheering her on while she danced and actors were responding to her excitement, until the usher forced them to leave. My wife drove home listening to our little one cry hysterically the entire ride. Great job majestic, we will go elsewhere to introduce our little one to theatre, something our family has...

I'm a little biased, because I've done a number of shows here. But the Majestic Theater is pretty much the only professional theater to be had in the southern Pioneer Valley. They usually put together a season with a little bit for everyone, and the performers they hire are generally top-notch. The sets are well designed, and built like battleships, and the costume design, lighting design and sound design are all up to the high standards of the productions. When they produce musicals, the music direction is wonderful, and the band is superb.

They have a cafe, where you can grab a light meal, dessert, and even wine or a beer. The staff is always friendly and helpful.
