My son and I stopped in for some celebratory dinner and cocktails on a Saturday night The Server was friendly , nice atmosphere . We loved our Server , she was the exception. I thought, what a great place to work . I applied as Server/Bartender and was hired and after only 3 work days I was told I wasn't a good fit . Unrealistic expectations from the start . I was treated rudely by staff ,, expected to power walk for 8 hours Sat & Sun ( morning) while just in training . I was unable to do so on Saturday after a grueling two day training . If I was told the truth I would of never applied and put myself through this torture . After working a torturous , (2) 5 hour shifts Thursday & Friday night , with my trainer/Servers , who were not very kind or patient , who expected me to keep up with their professional ability , as well as, learn ; ' Toast ' , a hand held device , w/o being familiar with the 5*8 Menu , or even with out any , self serve training We are also serving as a Bartender , fetching well and tap drinks behind the Bar , bus tables . Sweep & Mop , all while smiling away . * I was so exhausted I was practically in tears and shaky , I didn't feel well . I went home completely defeated I was really disgusted that they clean their restrooms once a week . A regular complained that the men's room was pretty bad , pee on the floor , paper towels, she shrugged . My 2nd training night ,; No ice scooper to use to for ice . Just used customer cups in the ice bin , reach in with our dirty hands , I gave up washing after awhile , we scooped their ice out of the bin our entire shift Friday , 3 Servers . It's not sanitary . I give it 2 stars for the friendly cooks & food they served up ! Not a good working atmosphere . When I let my Manager know how I felt , she terminated me . I understand alot of candidates don't make it . I am glad I didn't fall over from a heart attack .

EDIT: SEE RESPONSE BY RESTAURANT !!! ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED WELL BY MANAGMENT!!! We went to this restaurant since we saw in on the "Dining Out For Life" website to support the Aliveness Project and their Dine Out to End HIV event where this restaurant committed to donate 25% of each individual's bill towards HIV prevention funding. When we arrived there were flyers everywhere for this project so we were sure we were in the right place. After our order was taken, we asked the server to be sure part of our bill would go towards the project. He responded by saying "We cant actually do that. Youre not the first people to come in here and ask for that but we arent going to be donating". After he said this we pointed directly to the flyer on the table which said 25% of all bills would go towards the project and asked why their restaurant was listed online and why they had these flyers then to which he responded "I dont know but we arent participating. You can scan that QR code and donate on your own though". This restaurant was 25 minutes away from our home. We intentionally went to support a cause. It was extremely disappointing to hear that they had multiple patrons today who also did the same only to find out the restaurant isnt participating. I've attached a screenshot of the website where they claim they will donate here.

Let's start with the good shall we? Those cheese curds are banging. 🥰 They have a really light, delicious breading and some serious cheese-pull. Being a WI girl, I love a good chunk of cheese and these are definitely it. The actual meals themselves though? Decidedly meh. 🫤 The BLT was fine, but the chips aren't housemade or anything special, and while it wasn't bad, it's certainly nothing to write home about. The sunfish basket caught my 👀, because, how often do you see THAT on a menu? But the breading is WAY too much for these poor little fishies, so much so that you could barely tell there was fish inside. The jojos 🍟 also could have benefited from a double-fry or some kind of extra cook time - they're just too grainy for my liking and I won't even mention the burned toast. 😒 We want to like this place, because it's close to home and I like the original location a lot, but we just don't. ☹️

Edited 5/24/2021: Yay, 5-8 does finally have a loyalty program the rest of the review below was written several months ago!!!

I had been to 5-8 in Minneapolis a long time ago when I lived in Minneapolis. I for the first time with my boyfriend went after 7pm on Saturday night and was super impressed with the service where are waitress was wonderful and the food which was delicious and both service and quality of food is important to me, as well as having non options at a burger joint given the fact I can't hamburgers but the grilled chicken breast sandwich was delicious as well as the fries (and most fries lately at both fast food and table service restaurants SUCK, so I was extremely surprised at that) and my boyfriend and I loved the chocolate cake which we split and it was sweet and a decent size portion that we still had leftover cake. .

One important suggestion, as I only live a block away from this restaurant and I'm a customer who loves email clubs but doesn't have access to a printer and unfortunately the initial coupon i received a couple of weeks ago had been expired for a few days not that it would've helped, given my inability to print out the coupon.

I would love to support this store more given the quality of service and food, and the fact i live walking distance but unfortunately saving money is important to me so I will be happy to frequent the restaurant again, I just would probably frequent it more, if I could access coupons and promotions without having to worry about printing them out as well as while i realize the harm that covid19 is causing the restaurant industry, it would nice if they had more frequency in coupons from their email club, it would also help if they coded them to be able to track customers and maybe reward them for being frequent customers.

Just trying to be helpful with that insight not mean, again I loved my experience their...
