Mr. Mustacheo — Restaurant in West St. Paul

First impression was great, restaurant was very clean and staff were very friendly. We ordered the Asada Tacos, a Fish Taco, and Al Pastor tacos. The 4 flavors of wings we ordered were Jalepeno Parm, Buffalo, Macha, and Al Pastor. For 5 tacos and 24 wings and 3 drinks the cost total was just over $82.

We were not very impressed with the food. The Macha and Al Pastor wings looked great when we opened the boxes, but the lacked terribly on seasoning and flavor.

The Jalepeno Parm wings had little to no jalepeno flavor and they had a thick coating of cheese on them that was not very appetizing, it was almost as if they melted the cheese over the wings.

The buffalo were a regular buffalo wing, couldn't quite pinpoint the Mexican twist but they weren't bad buffalo wings.

The Al Pastor tacos were okay, though they lacked on seasoning and flavor. The Asada tacos were the same and were very very light on the onion and cilantro.

The salsa bar was a great touch, though none of the salsas had any real heat to them which was kind of disappointing. The salsas all seemed to lack on flavor, heat, and seasoning.

Agua Fresca was good, and the Horchata was great. One of the owners even came over to give us samples on a couple of the drinks which was really nice.

Overall, the atmosphere, service, and environment was great. But the food was nothing special which is why im giving this...

I read about Mr Mustacheo in the local newspaper, and I was eager to try it out. After my first experience, I'll definitely be going back! The jalapeno parmesan wings ended up not quite having the flavor we wanted, but they were still good. The fries had a yummy seasoning. My taco combo was fabulous! The tinga taco was really good, and the al pastor was amazing! The frijoles charros were savory, and the apple cabbage slaw was slightly creamy and sweet. (Also, it's fun they have some slaw options for sides-- it's nice to get something a bit different than my usual order of rice and beans!)

Oh and the horchata was really good! Some horchatas I've had are way too sweet, but this was perfect!

I'm looking forward to returning soon and trying even more of...

Service was quick and friendly. The food was hot and tasty.

I had a chicken Tinga taco, which was very flavorful and garnished with fresh onion and fresh cilantro. The Al Pastor taco which was garnished with pineapple, fresh onion, and fresh cilantro. Both were served with a lime wedge.

The jalapeño poppers were made with red jalapeños instead of green and served with a side of sweet-and-sour sauce. The jalapeño poppers were very delicious without being overly spicy.

I rounded out the meal with the Horchata drink, which was very delicious.

The atmosphere is friendly and inviting. I would highly recommend supporting this local small business. I’m looking forward to...
