Great food marred by bad service.
This would have been a 5 Star review if it wasn’t for the server.
It started ok. The server seemed nice. When asked about gluten free options the server acted a little confused. My wife explained and then asked if they had shared fryers. He said they did so my wife ordered some fajitas that seemed safe and specified corn tortillas. Then the server said the beans were fried so my wife asked for rice instead as we tried to figure out why they would use a fryer for beans.
When the server stopped by to refill our water we asked for 2 cokes because it said they had “Mexican Coke”. A few minutes later the hostess came by and said she was sorry but our waiter didn’t speak much English and she wanted to check what we had asked for. We said 2 cokes and she laughed and said he always does that and she’s sorry but she’d get them.
Then our food came. My wife got flour tortillas and not corn and my side or rice and beans was missing. We asked the runner and he apologized and got the corn tortillas but not my rice and beans. We ate and I kept trying to catch our waiter but he never came back.
Our glasses ran empty and I never got all of my food. I finally asked the busboy if he could find our waiter. He asked who it was and before I could answer he said “was it a Mexican guy”. I said yes and he doesn’t speak much English apparently and the guy laughed and said he knew just who it was.
The waiter finally appeared and I said to remove the rice and beans since they never got there and we just wanted to leave. He kept apologizing but this could have all been avoided if he’d checked on us, and if he spoke the language better.
The waiter seemed nice. He just seemed overwhelmed and the whole staff appeared to know it’s an issue. Until he learns the language enough to get orders right he may be better off as a runner or busboy.
The food was excellent but the service was beyond horrible in a not very...
Read moreOkay where to start. Their business has grown over the years. The new building is only like 3 years old. The place is huge and it can be hard to hear when fully booked. But it is a clean place to eat. There aren't so many of those near here. The food is always delicious. I have tried multiple dishes. The menu hasn't changed any really but that is okay. I like how the menu lists allergies like gluten or vegetarian dishes. They start you with chips and two dips. The ranch like spicy white dip is way better than the red salsa like dip. The cheese queso is a little thin when ordered by itself. I like the cheese dip when they cover burritos better. You know for being jammed in the bottom of WV the seafood options seem fresh which is weird being we don't have a lot of good water ways. The veggies come out very seasoned. Very tex-mex which is fine. They apparently have a sister location. I haven't been there. This one in Princeton WV is always hopping! The drinks are rather strong . There is a bar with 📺 but the booths are okay. Some of the booths won't accommodate larger people. But their tables seat large groups. Avoid this place on first of the month, or dinner on pay days. Everybody goes then. The prices are reasonable for a fine eating place. Again don't have too many of those. The portions are substantial. I always need a to go box. Try the Con Todo to sample simple fried appetizers it's huge and feeds 4! The staff loves to have fun. Though especially when busy they are very fast and you may get asked if you decided on your food multiple times. Though on that note who ever is cooking the food is fast and speedy. I often wonder what goes on back there?? Definitely one of the best places in...
Read moreVery pleased. It was an unplanned visit and the first restaurant that matched Mexican. The parking lot showed signs of life so I went in.
Nicely lit, attractive looking bar, booths and tables so I figured it would worth a shot.
As I snuck peeks at people's food on the way to the bathroom I noticed many people had tacos. The shrimp tacos looked particularly appetizing.
I ended up getting the Chicken Monterey which was grilled strips chicken with grilled onion and pineapple. It comes with rice and beans and cheese sauce. I like to regulate the amount of cheese on the dish so I got it on the side.
While waiting a complimentary basket of chips and salsa arrived. Chips were tender and salsa was good. I asked if they had any hotter salsas to try. They did! They have a homemade sauce that's made with habaneros. So far so good.
Odd but interesting was the small bowl of white sauce. It almost looked like ranch dressing. I tried it on a chip. Smooth, a little sweet and a little spicy, so I asked what it was. Its a mayonnaise base with other stuff and jalapenos, YUM!
Then the food comes. It was hot and delicious. Not a bite was left on my plate.
Service was friendly and attentive. Prices were reasonable. Got it bookmarked if I'm ever in this area again. Would...
