It's a real shame because we LOVED this Applebee's and have always had good experiences here. Last night was so bad that we're not going to be returning.
Started with calling in to check on wait. Was told 20min. I confirmed 20min and the guy who answered said "no that's best case, likely longer" like he was encouraging us not to come. Small potatoes but just not a great start, felt a little aggressive.
After showing up, waiting 20min, and getting sat, we were put at a table with no silverware/napkins and waited a good 10min for our server to show for drinks. Mind you the place was only half full, not even. My daughter also got a kids menu without crayons, my wife went up and asked for some, and the hostess without making eye contact said "we don't got any" in a super dismissive tone. Again, not the worst thing, but just a continuation of the negative experience.
Our waiter came up and the guy was extremely quiet, could barely hear him while he was taking our order, and for the whole night he might have said 30 words to us period. Not expecting a novel but just super non-friendly vibes, might have been new idk.
Apps took about 25min to come out. And our food about 30 min past that. Still only half packed the whole way through. Wings were room temp, steak was well done when we asked for medium, had to ask 3 times for a single refil on my drink, and when the waiter dropped off my daughters broccoli he had his hand overtop the plate making contact with the broccoli so definitely not servsafe quality 🤢
It then took 15min to get boxes to leave, and our tabletop POS unit was dead so we couldn't even checkout to leave and just leave our leftovers, which we were strongly considering.
I worked in the restaurant industry for just under a decade, i worked front of house, on the prep line, and utility too, so i know the job can be rough and some nights some things are off, but just everything was awful last night. I would never want to gamble putting another $60 on the line for a nice night out and instead wrap my day up with 2 hours worth of frustration, all while...
Read moreWhen we entered they said it would be a few minutes, a few people walked in right before us and we all were seated within 5 minutes. The service from the hostess to our waitress was excellent! Unfortunately I cannot remember their names but they were very polite and professional. They took our drink orders immediately after sitting down. We were even waiting on a few more people and as soon as they arrived their drink orders were taken. We went to celebrate my Mother’s birthday, although unfortunately they no longer do anything special for birthdays. I’m not sure how long it’s been since I haven’t been there in quite some time, It was a last minute thing. If I had known I would’ve brought a small cake or at least a candle to put in an ordered dessert. The food was great! My mother and I ordered the special salmon and shrimp w/frizzled onions, which came with mashed potatoes and broccoli. It was cooked perfectly and everything tasted great. I had a pomegranate margarita (which is red) with a festive green sugared rim that was delicious! My youngest daughter ordered a quesadilla salad. It looked absolutely delicious and was something different, she loved it! My youngest grandson had Mac n’cheese which he gobbled up along with broccoli. My oldest grandson ordered a steak dinner, the larger one and he loved it! One star off for atmosphere due to the place in my opinion needing an update AND very uncomfortable seating for larger parties, there were 6 of us. My family had the same table last time and said that it wasn’t very comfortable. It was the most accommodating for our party size. I cannot give an opinion as to whether the smaller booths or separate table and chairs are comfortable. Overall we were very pleased with everything! The service and food more than made up for the slight discomfort with...
Read moreTerrible experience! My nephew asked to eat at Applebees after his 8th grade graduation. We arrived and the place looked like it had plenty of available seats. My daughter put us down on the wait list and was told it would be about 35 minutes because we're a party of 6. We decide to wait in the car instead of the lobby. A rush of other parties start arriving. I realized it was a busy night since there were two local 8th grade graduations that evening.
After 35 minutes, we go back inside to check our place in line. We walked inside and were greeted by two employees with blank faces just staring at us. I look at both of them, waiting for some sort of verbal acknowledgment. When I realize I'm not getting any, I say hello. I ask if they can confirm how much longer it will be and give my daughter's name. The man in the pink shirt says it will be another 35 to 40 mins. I tell him we were told the wait would be "35 minutes" 35 minutes ago. He says, "I didn't tell you that!". His colleague in the black shirt tried to shift the blame, "It was probably the other guy that told you that."
There was no way I was going to wait an additional 35 mins. I say we're leaving because I'm no longer interested in eating there. I ask the man in the pink for his name. He tells me it is Keith. As we turn to the exit, another employee, a young woman, says to the man in the pink, "Don't worry about it!". At this point, we're all pretty disgusted with the lack of customer service. It turns out that Keith is the manager. I used to eat at this very Applebees when I was younger, but after this experience, I will never go back. So the young lady was correct, Applebees will not have to...
