The food is tasty, the staff is very slow.
We arrived on the weekend around lunch time and noticed the parking lot was empty. Once we entered, we noticed there was only one other customer.
We were greeted promptly and seated. We knew what we wanted and placed our order. We waited about 30 minutes for our order to come out and there were only 2 of us in our party. For 20 minutes, we didn’t see our waiter again.
Ironically, there was staff. For a moment we saw 3 people standing by the bar and then disappeared. However we heard regular laughs come out from the kitchen.
There was no To Go business and no food drivers.
So it was us and a senior lady who ordered a salad. Fortunately, she received her food first. It’s only fair because she had already placed her order when we arrived. But she waited 15 minutes from when we got there.
This restaurant has deteriorated dramatically. I’m not trying to arm chair quarterback but it seems to lack direction and concern for its reputation. People talk and if you’re service is bad, your customers dry up.
I saw there were some positive reviews. I wish we had one of those. What I described above existed even prior to the pandemic for us.
Maybe they should bull doze this restaurant and put in something fresher with high energy managers…
Oh and the little gadget wasn’t loaded with our bill. We were able to pay with our server but it also meant we couldn’t rate our experience. That info flows to corporate. I suspect they do...
Read moreThe quality isn't what it used to be. I haven't eaten at an Applebees in years. Back in my college days Applebees was a frequent starting location for food before a night at the college bars. I remember enjoying whatever I ordered. I can't recall any negative experiences. Yesterday I visited an Applebees with my family because we had a gift card. My kids enjoyed their kids meals (no complaints from them at least) but both my wife and I were not impressed with our food. The vegetables were soggy. The meat didn't look appealing and didn't taste great. My garlic mashed potatoes were blah. My wife said her chicken sandwich was either spongy or rubbery. (I can't remember which adjective she used) To finish off the experience our gift card didn't work. I didn't make a big deal out of the card because it was a couple years since we received it. Maybe there is a time limit? The waitress told me that sometimes gift cards don't work and I could call the number on the card. I didn't and won't bother. I didn't want to spend any more time trying to work out the issue at the restaurant and at this point I don't plan on ever going back. I'm not angry about my visit, just disappointed that Applebees appears to have gone down hill from my memories of 15ish yrs ago. Today there are so many competing options so it's probably hard to survive in their market. Positives - It's inexpensive and the server was...
Read moreThe food was disgusting. I ordered the sampler platter and my spouse ordered the turkey club. My food wasn’t the best but you could force yourself to eat it because it was overpriced and you don’t want to waste the money. The sandwich was compromised of basic cold deli meat, cold cheese with lettuce and the bread tasted stale. Our waitress was rude and didn’t ever come by once she got our orders. The manager wasn’t even any help. When I wanted a refill on my drink I made an obvious point of turning to look at the manager and when we made eye contact he turned around and walked the opposite direction. The manager made an obvious attempt to ignore everyone. Towards the end, when our waitress went to take my payment she was on her cellphone and when I tried to get her to listen to me she was mad I interrupted her call. You’re on the clock! Don’t get mad at me because I need to make a request. I hope this place can make a comeback but I doubt it. Applebees used to be an amazing place but now it’s just overpriced garbage. There was probably a reason the place was empty on a Saturday afternoon. This place is awful and the reputation is probably...
