I want to start off by saying the staff is friendly... but ingredients and technique needs a lil revamping of sandwiches.
I stopped in while on a trip for work, (I lived an hr from the sandwich shop location) ordered 3 sandwiches to go. Prep time was good, selection good, size of sandwich was amazing and to my understanding they have some sort of sandwich buffet in the back or something.
Sandwiches I ordered were meatball hero, eggplant parm hero and a steak and cheese. My eggplant sandwich was mostly bread, toppings were ok...I suppose and still reasonably priced overall. Steak and cheese I was told that it couldāve been better and meatball said it was good (that was a kid so u know they donāt care lol). I sampled the steak n cheese it was mostly bread as well. I opened both mine and the steak n cheese there was so little ingredients in the sandwiches that it created an indentation on the bread.
I ate it I was hungry. I will give it a try again maybe something different just not a hot hero. Hopefully Iāll be over the moon with a cold hero.
I will say thank you for good service and the recommendation to the employee at there register. She didnāt make the sandwiches but we did have a nice...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst timer here. Everyone has told me this is the greatest place for a grinder in western mass. Coming from a a guy who grew up 5 minutes from Franklin Avenue in Hartford, I was extremely disappointed.
The staff was amazingly friendly and grinders were made really quick! The person who took my order suggested the meatball was a popular choice.
I got chicken cutlet with sauce and cheese. At first glance they hadnāt offered to heat the grinder up to melt the cheese and warm the bread. I said to myself āmust be an oversight.ā I open the sandwich looking to see how they made their chicken cutlets and I was blown away to the fact they use commercial frozen chicken cutlet patties found at restaurant depot.
Needless to say, for an established grinder shop that prides itself for being around for decades, and having a very large customer base, I canāt recommend Richardās to anyone looking for an authentic grinder experience. This place is good for a quick bite to eat when your pressed for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe bread was fantastic. Iāll try them again based on that and the value of their menu prices. But my cold cut (just ham and salami, didnāt come with mortadella or pepperoni) was unbearably salty. I couldnāt even eat half of it without needing to put it down. The provolone cheese was sliced so thin you would never know it was on there. I would need to order extra cheese next time to actually taste it. Also iāve never heard of pasta e fagiola soup without ground beef. But it had little slices of pepperoni or shaved steak or something in it. very weird and unexpected. iāll go again for the bread but will try something different like a turkey or roast beef or chicken salad grinder. service was fast and friendly. service, value, and that soft soft grinder roll gets 3-stars. Will review...
