Alaskan Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Westminster

Finding one of these restaurants can be difficult. However, if you do and your on a budget like me, you may share my thought that it's as pricey as you remember. But, again if like me, you say screw the budget and order up some tasty seafood deep fried to the perfect crispness. On to savor the flakey white fish that melts in your mouth. I had driven by a few times and finally stopped and ordered. It's small, appeared clean and has a few tables for eating there but I opted to take it home. Including me, there were four others ordering yet the staff handled it beautifully. And staff that night was two people only, the woman taking & assisting filling orders and the cook. They deserve Job Well Done kudos! My order was delicious. I ordered a combo with scallops and shrimp. I was bummed to be informed their combos didn't include a drink. I would have to purchase it separately. They offered drink in cans, bottles etc., but I decided I'd have something at home. Once there, I opened up my food and wow, just as I remembered! This fish and chips spot has been around for over 20 years. It used to be part of the H Salt Fish & Chips chain, but later rebranded as Alaskan Fish & Chips, same great taste, just a new name.

I stumbled upon this place while pulling off the 405 for gas. Saw it tucked behind the gas station, checked the reviews, and decided to give it a try.

The restaurant itself is pretty simple but came dinnertime, there was a steady stream of people picking up takeout and delivery orders.

We decided to dine in and noticed that the whole place was run by just two guys (probably the owners), one handling orders and the other in the kitchen. Both were super friendly!

The menu is all about fried food, freshly made to order, so expect a bit of a wait if it’s busy. The batter is light and super crispy (not the thick, doughy kind), and it pairs perfectly with their tartar sauce. They also have a handwritten “Today’s Special” board with great deals. Prices are very reasonable. If you love fried food and find yourself in Westminster area, this spot is worth checking out.

Horrible place to eat. I hadn't been to an H.S. Salt in years so I thought I would try this place. Big mistake! I had just the basic fish dinner and they gave me food poisoning! It was so bad that I went to the hospital. When I went back there to tell them what happened the Asian lady who works there went crazy and was completely rude. The Mexican guy who I guess was the cook just came out and apologized and said they would refund the money. Like this had not been the first time he had dealt with a customer complaining of getting sick from their food. Then when the Asian lady went to refund my card she couldn't figure out how to do it. I tried to tell her how to since I used to work a register at a job I had years ago and she tried to tell me it was refunded when it wasn't. Extremely rude people who don't know what they are doing who made me so sick I felt like I was dying. Stay away from this...
