My family and I are local but we don’t eat at this Bob Evans very frequently due to several encounters of bad service. Last year I reviewed the experience we had and today after careful consideration I decided to give them 2 stars.
So why not 5? We’ll, it all starts with the greeting. Looking around the restaurant I noticed about 7 or 8 tables with customers but the hostess was too busy to provide each individual in our family a menu. We have kids under 8yo and the youngest didn’t get a kids menu. I had to go to the front in an attempt to help but they keep them in a drawer like they are valuable merchandise or something.
Next was the time it took to take our order or bring us drinks. We sat for about 10 mins without drinks or even biscuits. After the order was taken, it took about 25 mins for food to arrive.
I ordered the “Everything Breakfast”, kids got pancakes and wife got chicken tenders. The server gave me my plate, then then my wife, and the kids last. She was sure to make them wait a while even though the food was in her hand too. Im not the type of person to assume waitresses deliberately attempt to upset children, but the thought crossed my mind. Despite this, my kids held it together pretty well. My 6yo almost melted down, but honestly I wouldn’t have blamed him because I almost did.
Next we move to the taste. Kids and wife said food was hot and tasted good. My meal came complete with a flat biscuit that I was unable to penetrate with my fork but I was so hungry I ate everything on the plate. The ketchup bottle was full, but nobody took the tab out of the top so I had to help with that.
Overall, my family and I had a good experience because we held our heads up despite the poor quality of service at this place.
So, the manager. He did come over to our table to help us with the blinds after we told the waitress the sun was hurting our eyes...but then at the end of the meal after waiting for 20 mins and the waitress not checking on us or giving us the bill, the manage had no idea where we were sitting. By this time there were 4 tables with customers and only 2 tables had any kids. Now, I might be getting picky, but we were at this restaurant for over an hour! What was he doing that he didn’t notice where we sat? He did take our coupon and price was reasonable.
Today was not very good service or management at this Bob Evans restaurant in Westminster...
Read moreWe have been ordering take-out since locations closed months ago. Usually the food is awesome. However, yesterday (Sat 5/30) things were way off. We ordered the pot roast (as we always do). The roast was in hunks, not shredded, the carrots were cold and not cooked all the way. We also ordered the cranberry pecan salad and this time there was a choice that I don’t remember having before ... small for $9 and regular for $10. Ordered small and could see the bottom of the container through the little bit of lettuce that was there and there was no blue cheese. I guess I should have ordered the regular size but for $9 you’d think all the ingredients would still be there. Usually the meals are five star. Hope this was just a fluke. PS- I wanted to just say something on their website but couldn’t find ‘contact us’ ... I searched it but it said zero results. My family loves Bob Evans. Please go back to your usual awesomeness!
UPDATE: 6/7/21 We have ordered from this Bob Evans several times since and the food has been delicious each time. Sometimes the portions are off ... I must depend on who’s working. No other problems. Still love this place.
NEW: 8/7/25 Enjoyed our meals inside Bob Evans today. But what made it an over-the-top experience was our waitress “Debbie”. Thank you for your friendliness & hospitality. Thank you for talking to our kids like you’ve known them forever…it made them feel special. Thank you for making sure we had everything we needed while we were there & when we were packing leftovers to take home. The food was pretty good. The place could use some maintenance/painting for sure. But I’d come back in a heartbeat if I knew you were going to be our waitress. Thank you for...
Read moreI never heard of this franchise before, so I had to try it out. The service was exceptional. Even the other customers were great. The food was very tasty and well portioned for the price. My only issue was the hostess who sat me down. She asked if I needed a drink, which is my pet peeve when I just sat down and do not have any idea what my options are. I kindly said I needed a moment to look. She said she would get me a water. I said no water please. She looked at me like I was speaking French. I repeated that I did not want any water. Even the table across from me looked at her curiously. She seemed stunned and was not sure what to do. She asked if I wanted water. I said no, no water. She left. Two minutes later the server comes over to take my order, and she brought a water. The table across from me laughed out loud.
I had steak tips with loaded mashed potatoes, banana bread, and fresh fruit. For a drink I had sweet tea and filled that with their sweet cream iced coffee.
Everything was good. I was half done with my meal when I realized I never took any pics of the main course. The only issue was the fruit should have been chilled. Room temperature banana slices stick together and strawberries seem tart when warm.
Overall a great experience and I will go back again. By the way, get the banana bread. It is very good. You can even buy a loaf...
