Update 07/07 - Spoke to the General Manager who had zero empathy whatsoever. Instead, she brings the fact that my dog put her paws on the counter right when we left, yes, obviously as I said, she is a SERVICE dog and knew I was getting very aggravated. No empathy for the situation at all but to try and put the blame on me - obviously the dog is going to react in situations like that - that is exactly what she is trained to do. To detect high immediate stress. Will NEVER return and will file a complaint with the state. Why don't you train your incompetent employees who were questioning me for an ID like cops. I’m writing this review to express my concern about a troubling experience I had at this Dairy Queen location involving my service dog on 07/05/2025 at 5:35PM. Upon walking in, one of the employees—a teenage worker at the counter—immediately asked me for a service dog ID. I calmly informed him that under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), it is illegal to ask for documentation or ID for a service animal. Despite this, he continued to insist on seeing proof, even after I attempted to show the other man at the register the exact law to help educate him and avoid further issues for others in the future.
At no point was I rude, loud, or confrontational—I simply tried to explain the law respectfully. His response was dismissive: “Please don’t do this, sir.” Frankly, I found that reaction inappropriate and unprofessional. I wasn’t trying to escalate—I was trying to help. Had this happened to someone else, especially someone who didn’t feel comfortable speaking up, this could have easily led to a lawsuit or ADA complaint.
Service dog laws exist for a reason, and businesses are responsible for training their staff to follow them. This was not only a disappointing interaction—it was a clear violation of federal law. I strongly recommend this Dairy Queen location provide immediate ADA compliance training to its employees to ensure no one else has to go through this kind of experience.
Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) – 28 CFR § 36.302(c) Under this law:
"(6) A public accommodation shall not require documentation, such as proof that the animal has been certified, trained, or licensed as a...
Read moreI have been a long time customer of Dairy Queen for 30 years. I moved from Texas to Colorado and expected the same service. The employee that took my phone call earlier today was rude. I simply asked where are they located and his phone skills were terrible for someone that represents a company. I immediately thought maybe it's super busy and he is stressed etc so I didn't think much of it. I arrived about 7 minutes later and the restaurant was empty, not one customer which should have been a sign not to walk in. I walked up to the counter and I could already suspect that this was the same person I spoke with greeting me at the counter. He wasn't pleasant. For a young man to represent such a well known establishment needs to learn personal skills. I had thought I paid for the birthday cake on-line and his response was just very rude. I let him know that he was rude and he responded with "ok". I strongly suggest you send this young man to training to learn the art of how to speak with people. I don't want to publicly say his name as I want to respect the fact that he may have other things going on his life that may not be going so well so I actually feel remorse for him. I'm going to do my best to not allow this unpleasant experience ruin my sons birthday today. I wish you and your staff nothing but the best and hope customer service training is in...
Read moreLast night, Tuesday, February 21st, a group of us decided to take our kids for a treat, since some are moving and won't see one another for awhile. We got there at 9:15 p.m. I was the first to order, the young man who was taking our order was less than thrilled, I ordered 2 kids cones, one chocolate, one vanilla, a medium sundae with cone dip chocolate and peanuts, a medium Dr.Pepper and a medium blizzard. I went to sit at a booth since I have a really bad back and can't stand long. Our other friends ordered, when they finally came to sit, they didn't have my sundae. When I went back to the counter the rude kid said you never ordered that, and made me pay for ANOTHER one. My daughter never received her Dr.Pepper. The worker cared nothing about his customers who by the way, spent nearly 50.00 bucks, he was more concerned with telling us that the lobby closed in 10 minutes, repeating himself 5 to 6 times. WOW. I tried calling to speak with a manager, they don't even answer their phones!! Oh, and he made one of the kids cones, a large dipped in chocolate. When my daughter mentioned no we ordered 2 kids cones, he proceeded to yell at her. If that's acceptable behavior, we will...
