Service is efficient, water got refilled and grill got changed without asking.
The restaurant itself and booths are tiny and I wouldn't recommend more than 2-3 people.
We had a reservation at 5pm and immediately got seated. We chose the $55 ayce menu.
The server arrived and informed us that you can only select 3 items from each category (meats, premium sushi, and appetizers).
The meats arrived rather quickly and they were all a bit too salty because of all the sauce they put on them.
The beef tongue didn't have much sauce (or at all) but the cuts were thin and nothing special. For Japanese establishments, I'm used to eating tongue with lemon, but when I asked they said they don't have any :(
One of the biggest down side was that the premium sushi took forever to arrive. The whole hour we were there, we were only able to order a total of 2 orders (3 pieces per order). You are unable to order more until the initial sushi order arrives....
Based on other reviews, it looks like they deliberately do this so you can't order too much of it, but having 3 pieces of sushi come out every 15-20 minutes is kind of ridiculous for an ayce. So be wary if you decide to come and are looking forward to the sushis.....
The texture of the sushi isn't bad, but they dump a lot of sauce all over so you can't really enjoy it as much. They also didn't have any wasabi, which I thought was strange.
I didn't even have to use the sauces they provided for any of the food because of how salty and over sauced everything was.
I think for the price you pay, you're better off going to other ayce premium chains like chubby cattle or even a cheaper kbbq place.
I wanted to like this place, but I don't think I'll recommend this to anyone or ever come back :( I was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame in on a Saturday, pretty full restaurant. Had a reservation so we were seated instantly. Our main server came over and explained the menu and we went with the VIP ($75 a person) tier. For $75, very disappointing experience. The menu says 90 minute limit but beware you only get to order food for 60 minutes. The fact that you have to cook most of the food you get makes this system almost comical. On top of that, our order was taken twice in 40 minutes, so we were already feeling stiffed throughout the middle of our meal. The cuts of meat were good, not the best I've had. Some of the appetizers were great (Scallop crudo, Yellowtail crudo) but that was it. The sushi was extremely disappointing. The rice was not cooked well and was not seasoned. They douse a lot of their items in this truffle sauce that is not great. Tastes like a lesser version of cheap truffle oil you can get from the store. Honestly, the only redeeming part of this meal was our server (I forgot his name). After he realized no one other than him was taking our order, he quickly went to his manager and got us an extra 30 minutes to eat - which we appreciated (would give 5 stars for service just for this guy). Unfortunately, it was not worth eating this subpar food for another 30 minutes so we paid and left shortly thereafter. There are much better AYCE places out there (X-Fish and I Can BBQ for starters). I can appreciate what this establishment has attempted to accomplish, however in my opinion, they were extremely far away from reaching it. Wanted to love it, forced to dislike.
Price for 2+ tax and tip: ~$200.00

Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe came to Himizu with high hopes after seeing so many glowing reviews on TikTok and Yelp. The food looked amazing online, and the hype convinced us to try their $75 VIP menuāthe highest tier. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to expectations, and I have to rate it 2 stars.
First, the meat quality was outright disappointing. For a VIP menu, I expected high-grade cuts that melted in your mouth, but what we got was tough and lacked flavor. The uni dishes, like the uni pasta and uni escargot, were equally underwhelming. The portions of uni were so tiny they might as well have not been there.
Another major issue was the grilled shrimp. It was uncleaned, with all the unpleasant āgunkā still on it, making it unappetizing and unprofessional for a supposedly premium menu.
To be fair, the service was great. We were seated quickly, served promptly, and our water glasses were never empty. The staff really did their part, but unfortunately, good service couldnāt compensate for the disappointing food quality.
As a regular at Chubby Cattle and Gangnam Station, I was hoping Himizu could be our new go-to spot closer to home. But based on this experience, I canāt recommend it. If youāre considering trying the VIP menu, save your money and head to Chubby Cattle or Gangnam Station instead.
Itās disappointing because the food genuinely looks good online, and the reviews were so promising. I hope they step up their quality to match the hype, but for now, itās a hard...
