We had such a lovely time at Terrain Café! We were lucky enough to snag a table outside, and I loved the charming touch of incense lit among the plants—it really enhanced the vibe. Despite the place being quite crowded, the service was exceptional. Our server was kind, knowledgeable, and handled the rush with ease, making sure our experience was smooth and enjoyable. A true pro!

There were two of us, and the amount of food we ordered was just right—satisfying but not too heavy. We started with the complimentary milk bread and seasonal butter, which arrived in an adorable terra cotta pot. For our meal, we ordered the Beet & Burrata Salad, which was fantastic. The crunchy puffed amaranth and pickled shallot were a great touch. We also had the Shakshuka, which was fresh and satisfying. We originally wanted to try the Short Rib & Egg, but it had already sold out by the time we got there—so if you're interested in that dish, make sure to arrive before noon! Instead, we opted for the Terrain Burger. The meat was delicious, though I personally would have liked a bit of aioli. Luckily, dipping the burger into the Shakshuka was a genius solution!

For drinks, I had the Masala Spiced Chai Latte and a London Fog. The chai latte was a bit on the sweeter side, likely due to the honey but the London Fog was perfect—the ideal balance of milk, tea, and just a touch of sweetness.

After our meal, we wandered around the shop and did our best not to splurge on all the skincare products and plants. The whole concept of Terrain Café is adorable, and the building is beautifully maintained and decorated. As Atlanta locals, we were so happy to have discovered this place and are already looking forward to making it a regular stop whenever we’re in town.

I couldn't leave town without trying the Short Rib & Eggs at Terrain, so I came back for breakfast, and I’m so glad I did! Arriving at 10 AM, I was thrilled to find the short rib in stock, and it was absolutely incredible. The meat was so tender it practically fell apart with a fork. The flavors were warm and rich—an absolutely perfect way to start the day. If I lived in the area, this would be my go-to breakfast every week!

We also ordered the Terrain Breakfast (free-range eggs, bacon, sausage, potato hash, sourdough toast, and greens), which was delicious but honestly didn’t stand a chance against the short rib. Along with the complimentary milk bread and a chai latte, this was plenty of food for the two of us, and we left pleasantly full.

I have visited Terrain Café six times, always with my wife, who enjoys the ambiance and views. However, after our most recent visit, I will not be returning. While the environment may be beautiful, the food is mediocre at best, and the service is consistently subpar.

Let me take you through a typical experience at Terrain Café. If you're lucky enough to secure a reservation, you'll be seated at a table, where the service immediately starts to falter. You’ll find yourself having to ask for the most basic necessities like sugar, bread, spoons, water, things that any attentive server should automatically provide. It's baffling that the staff isn't trained to handle these essentials without constant prompting. During my last visit, I ordered coffee, only to be served without sugar or a spoon.. common sense items that had to be requested. When our food arrived, there was no forks or knive provided. It’s frustrating to feel as if you’re inconveniencing the staff just for basic needs.

As for the food, I ordered the chicken pot pie, and it was dissapointing. What they served could hardly be called a pot pie. It was more like chicken soup with a thin piece of croissant dough on top. It’s clear that this dish, if it’s even meant to be a pot pie, is misrepresented on the menu. The restaurant should consider rebranding it to “chicken soup with croissant,” as it’s far more accurate.

Unfortunately, this experience wasn’t an isolated incident. Every visit has been marked by inattentive service and staff that lack attention to detail. The staff seems unorganized and uninformed, and I continually find myself having to ask for things that should be automatically provided. Despite the numerous employees milling around and smiling, there is a noticeable lack of management or any real service training. Terrain Café is entirely about the aesthetic! the plants and ambiance are undeniably beautiful. But if you’re expecting quality food or professional service, this is not the place to find it.
