Very poorly organized. I signed my children up for camp, called a week before camp starts to confirm materials needed. I was told "nothing but a snack..." and turns out my child needed an iPad, a digital pen, and an app loaded. He was embarrassed and my afternoon was ruined running around trying to make it right. They told me "it was in the description", but we signed up for camp in March ...
I didn't realize you get the information once, and if you call to ask a question, no one will help you, and will give you Incorrect information.
I should have noted the other poor reviews here, I took a chance on a new camp, but i would warn other people against such an expensive program. No communication and poorly run. Not worth it.
Update: One River contacted me to take down my review. They offered my family a free week of camp because they said they could not have a negative review. The thing is, this review is sharing exactly our experience and their reply to that reviewis misleading. The moment they realized my son didn't have the iPad the called me and were not understanding and friendly, they were aggressive and unapologetic about giving false information on the phone previously. Of course we want our son to be prepared for class. WHICH is why we called the front desk two weeks before camp started to make sure as a new family we were prepared. Also we had to leave town to be with our sick family member, so as far as the "Friday art show" our son wasn't in attendance. So that reply must be for another family, or yet again they can't keep their facts straight. All and all this place seems to care more about reviews than knowing how to...
Read moreI highly recommend the art classes offered by One River School of Art and Design in Westport CT. We joined One River School when it initially opened in Westport in 2019, after an extensive search for after school art instruction in Fairfield County. Over the last five years, both my daughters have benefited enormously from their experiences with the One River after-school classes as well as Summer Camp sessions, flourishing as artists, in an environment that has emboldened their creativity and allowed them to feel comfortable taking chances. They have explored the more traditional mediums of drawing and painting, as well as enjoyed learning about fashion design, graphic arts, and digital design. The teachers are well educated in their respective fields, and are very warm and nurturing. Wonderful and lasting friendships have also been made in these classes. In addition to the wide ranging curriculum, my daughters have also really enjoyed meeting the visiting Artists who periodically show their art as part of the gallery space, and my younger daughter has participated in the bi-annual Maker Faire, showing her art within a very collegial and supportive environment. Overall, these classes have provided a solid foundation for both my daughters as they pursue their interests in art; they can envision a world where Art and Creativity are valued with the potential for a career and...
Read moreThe school did not honor my 320 dollar credit. When lockdowns from the pandemic happened, my daughter was enrolled in a class. We did not consider attending until my daughter was eligible to receive vaccination over a year and a half later. The discussion was during the time that my child would have a credit to use at any time. Now, they say credits must be used with six months to a year. This was not the case in 2020 and they are not honoring their policies that were in place then or at least what they said was their policy then. Surely, you would think they would still honor it until a young child is vaccinated. Wasted money, not customer friendly and I feel ripped...
